According to the GFS this is how it will look in 10 days. You can see the orientation of the coldest air not favoring the U.S. In fact, to me areas in white are narrow and pretty much lacking this winter.
Still close to -10°C at 850 mb. Enough for snow if the setup is right for sure.

Here's February 13, 2015.. You guys tell me.. doesn't it look like there was more coverage of cold last year? Maybe because it was Feb vs Jan.
If I remember correctly, that was brutally cold in the midst of already very cold month. You can't expect too many repeats of that in a typical winter, or even any.
Forecasts are lost on Monday and Tuesday night, accuweather is showing 15 and 14 degrees for the lows, my local abc weather station is showing 18 and 19 and the the local cbs station which has the best forecaster, greg fishel ,is showing 18 and 21. very confusing. then wunderground has 18 and 21. Who should I trust? it wasn't all that confusing till accuweather went with a extremely different forecast
here's the current map.. The storm is off Florida now.. I really could care less about the severe stuff there. I cannot fatham why people like that damaging weather. I friggin hate it. Nobody needs that crap.

Squall line closing in here! Unfortunately it died a bit crossing the peninsula so it won't be as intense.
