Madison is currently averaging 37 degrees for the month (normal is 23!). I found a site of the warmest Decembers here (Madison, WI Top Ten Extremes). The warmest since 1900 is 33 degrees back in 1931 and looking at the upcoming forecast the average should stay well above that. 37 degrees is a little above the normal November average.

December 1877 had an average of 38.3, if that's reliable. The average readings before 1896 have an asterisk since temperatures were only recorded at 7am, 2pm, and 7pm and this might make the reported average be too high. Some of the coldest winter months were recorded back then, so who knows how cold they actually were.

If only the forecasted Scandi high could last longer and extend further west. At least right now everybody is having ridiculously mild weather. No reason to be jealous. But this will change.

The Euro has much of Ukraine below -20°C @ 850 hPa for NYE & Day.

The zonal flow will most likely resume, but hopefully at lower latitudes:

I have to check my webcam. We havent seen sun much this month. Add the warmth and Its been miserable to the core.

Now I got that ****in annoying mist garbage. Either rain or dont. I hate this ****!!!
