Merry Christmas

North Pole Blocking in the medium range

Euro weekly out. Massive Elutian Low, very El Niño like out tp 3rd week on January. North Pacific Blob will continue to take an ass whooping. However, looks as if cold will undercut warmth. Canada above average, same with Northern Plains, but Midwest near normal, East Coast colder

MJO forecast looks like it would highly support colder Eastern CONUS pattern after first week of January. Phase 8,1, and 2.

Meanwhile on the Canadian prairies we woke up to a bit of a chilly Christmas morning here...

I'm really impressed by how warm and stormy it is on the east side of the continent and I'm also impressed that we haven't really seen much of it in Western Canada (both here in Saskatoon and back in Vancouver) for the most part - the above average temperatures we've had haven't been anything remarkable and we've had plenty of average temps and even a few below average temps as well.

Merry Christmas!

I can't wait for those intense storms to pound California and you get a huge snowstorm!

Yesterday it was in the low 70s with drizzle. Didn't feel like Christmas Eve at all.

Despite it still being way above average, it's certainly cooler than yesterday. 58 F/14 C and mostly cloudy now.

Chance of wintry weather early next week!

A WINTRY MIX OF FREEZING RAIN, SLEET, AND SNOW IS POSSIBLE ACROSS
THE LEHIGH VALLEY, POCONOS, AND NORTHWESTERN NEW JERSEY LATE
MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. SOME SNOW AND ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE
POSSIBLE.

Nope, it's just the map. Coastal areas are left blank. You're actually right in the middle of the warm area.
