These mild temps combined with cloudy sky & rather high humidity has me excited for severe thunderstorm season (even more so than before). Kinda has that feel even though nothing is going to happen this time. We seem to peak in spring and the last time we got sustained cloud-to-ground lightning was on April 7 of last year.
Severe weather is not unusual during winter here. A tornado struck on Christmas 2012, the same system that produced the tornado in Mobile, AL.
The cold front today came ahead of the line of storms. It brought brisk cold rain and wind, but nothing really severe, and no lightning. Still more rain coming.
Why would you want to avoid 80F if it's already 79?
Lol! It's just a technical obsession I have. I've made it goal to see if I can go the entire month without hitting 80 F. Yeah, I know 1 degree difference is pretty irrelevant. Still, I want to play the game!

I'd be pissed if it got that warm and failed to hit 80F by one degree. But then again, that would be an outrageous event in winter here. I can see that wanting a month without it makes more sense in your climate.
It still baffles me how Lexington has hit 80F in January...
