We went from well above average at the start of May to now slightly below average.
As of the 15th ORD has an average max of 68.5F/20.3C. MDW, 71.2F/21.8C, and my suburb 72.8F/22.7C.
There is a 3-4 day warm spell that started today. High was a bit cooler than forecast because of more cloud cover. It reached 76F/24C at ORD, and 79F/26C at MDW in Chicago. My suburb reached 81F/27C.
Next week will be very cool. The 11-15 day period as of now shows a return of warm weather
I think this May will end up slightly above average.
Up until the 13th we were at about average for the month.. unfortunately we then had a 10C day and today wasn't great either.
We are now running 0.7C below average for our average maximum, and I cannot see that being recouped with the current forecast of 15C-17C max temperatures. It isn't as bad as some spots in the UK, where it will feel wintry for the next week. Perhaps the last week could save us still, but we are also likely to record well below average sunshine for the month.
Every single month last year bar august was above average as well.
Ah I thought otherwise.. same as us, but August seems to suck every year nowadays. You can almost count on September being a better month than August right now.
0.005" of rain for the month so far, it sucks having to water some things daily, but I'll gladly take it over wetter conditions and below normal temps. I hope we remain above normal for the entire summer, another cool(er than normal) one would suck.
