It seems summer or spring came very early this year. It was 83 today at my home! I was still enjoy the changing of the seasons but I am sure by august I will be counting down the days until fall/winter. In the meantime excuse me while I go take a allergy pill!

Jamstec says it will it be another year of no screaming kids in pools. Hope so. That was fun hearing and seeing neighbors close their pools in August. Lol

Yeah as of now, the Jamstec looks very similar to last summer's forecast put out in April, which turned out to be pretty accurate right?

and what's worse for hot summer lovers as myself.... The blue blotches over the eastern US are getting larger and larger for each monthly run....

I wonder if Pittsburgh will break its record of 1,007 consecutive days without 90°F temperatures (September 10, 2002 - June 12, 2005).

NOAA disagrees

I hope they're right. We haven't had a real summer for 2-3 years in the South East.

NOAA's forecast are horrible. Anyway, of course "equal chances" for the Central US.

We haven't had a decent summer here since 2012

Not surprising by NOAA. I think they lost the blue ink .. if you ever see them forecast colder than normal print and save it, might be worth money in the future. lol

You can compare SST's over the last 30 years to see how the oceans temps may impact this summer

There doesn't seem to be anything comparable to it, except weaker versions of that warm water in 92,93, 94 and just barely 2003. Something is up with the Pacific Ocean to be maintaining such strong anomalies along the west coast for two years running. When you scroll thru, I don't see two consecutive years looking identical like 2014 and 2015. What gives?

1995 is somewhat similar around the West Coast, and there was a warm pool off of Alaska. Not as pronounced though

2014

2015

Jet stream pattern in the Pacific? You need to get an atmospheric river of storms to go through and break down those exceptionally high SST's
