OKC tied its records for latest measurable snowfall on Tuesday morning and latest sub 30F low yesterday morning. What's crazy is those happened after it had already hit 90 twice. It literally went from 92 to 30 to 90 to 28 over the course of about three weeks!

I only saw snow flurries in Norman, but it was still impressive, seeing snow fall with trees fully leafed out.

Toronto had 2 thunderstorms (with rain, not thundersnow) in winter 2018-2019; December 2, 2018 and February 24, 2019. Toronto's not a place that's very conducive to winter thunderstorms, their average highs range from 30 - 40 F / -1 to 4 C in winter, the 40 being on Dec. 1. They do have thunderstorms on the fringes of winter (December and late February) on occasion, but multiple thunderstorms in a single winter or thunderstorms at the core of winter (January and early February) are much rarer.

In the past decade, only one winter (2012-2013) had thunderstorms between Dec. 30 and Feb. 19, inclusive. 5 of the past 10 winters in total had at least one thunderstorm event; in addition, one winter (2010-2011) had a thundersnow event.

Winter t-storms in Toronto:
Spoiler

Feb. 24, 2019
Dec. 2, 2018
Feb. 24, 2017
Dec. 29, 2015
Feb. 20, 2014
Feb. 11, 2013
Jan. 29, 2013
Jan. 20, 2013
Thundersnow events:
Feb. 2, 2011

Also, in 2015 Toronto's first frost was on November 22. That's later than Nashville's November 14 figure for the same year. Seasonal lag from the Great Lakes makes Toronto's first freeze average out later than most places with similar yearly temperatures.

Verkhoyansk has a stupendous record low of -57c for the month of April.

Compare this with the following April record lows for similar extreme locations:

-57c on the Greenland ice cap's summit station at 3200m AMSL
-49c Eureka, Nunavut
-46c Oymyakon
-46c Snag, Yukon
-45c Seymchan
-42c Prospect Creek, AK
-41c Yakutsk
-41c Mayo, Yukon

Might be the coldest April temp ever recorded in the NH, tied with the Greenland summit.

Today makes 15 days in a row having the Daily Avg temp below normal for Bridgeport, CT. (Same for Hartford).

The last time we had this long stretch was in 2015, January 26 to March 3, 37 days in a row.

Dec 26, 2017 - January 8, 2018 came close with 14 in a row... but not as long as we are having...

So its been 5yrs+ since having this anomalous stretch

On January 27, 1942 a lot of Yugoslav Partisans died of freezing during the march over the Igman mountain (Bosnia) in locality Veliko Polje when the temperature dropped on -37c https://sarajevo.travel/en/text/mount-igman/617

In Veliko Polje (1190 m) on Igman on January 25, 1963 was measured -43.5c and that is the lowest temperature ever recorded in whole Balkan.
