NYC area hit temps of 78-83ºF (26-28ºC) during https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/su...husetts-78-nyc on February 21, 2018! Central Park recorded 78, LaGuardia 79, White Plains 79, Newark 80, and Teterboro 83. Unfortunately I was in Florida at the time so I didn't get to experience this "Florida-like" February heat. Actual temps in South Florida were 90s, 91 in Miami, 92 in Palm Beach and 95 in Naples where I was. Probably some far inland areas hit 100s, but no stations in the southern Everglades.

Darwin's ( Australia ) hottest day since records began at the Airport in 1941 occurred on 18th October 1982 - 38.9c ( 102f )
There have historically been a couple of hotter days in the late 19th Century at the old Post Office site in the City, 40.4c ( 104.7f ) in Oct 1892 being the highest. As usual, there are some questions re exposures and instruments back then.
I can specifically remember the 1982 reading as the day before I was trapped in a dangerous bushfire at Twin Falls in Kakadu National Park and lost a new 4wd to the fire

Five out of Oklahoma City's eleven sub-40°F highs on record occurred during the past two years.

I think OKC has had a LOT more than 11 days on record where the high's been below 40 F...I found more than 11 in January 1977 alone.

I am finding five sub-40 highs in October in the last two years, maybe that's what you meant, because sub-40 highs in October would be a rare thing there.

On Thursday (11/5), we hit a high of 99°F! New all time high for the month of November by 3°F, and 17°F above the average high of 82°F!

So close to the triple digits. Dang.

I wonder what the latest 100 ever in Phoenix is? Mid-October?

I wonder if there's a suburb of Phoenix that actually hit 100, so we could technically claim triple digits in Phoenix in November.

Darwin Australia
"November at the Airport.....how common ( or not ) is a +36c recording in November ?
The answer is ( notwithstanding heat records are like fishing stories....prone to exaggerations and incomplete historical memories, not to mention K-mart thermometers under the verandah.....lol ) ......
Not as common as one might think. In fact only 23 of the 80 Novembers since 1941 has recorded a +36c day.
3 such days in 1972.
2 such days in 1977
2 such days in 1993
2 such days in 2003
3 such days in 2004
2 such days in 2006
2 such days in 2015
And remarkably 4 such days in the first 8 days of November 2020 ! ( also a close call last Friday with a 35.9c ! )
So this really is ( stats wise at least ) a remarkable spell of heat. No individual records broken for the month, although certainly some new records for the individual dates broken. Note that this is not really reported on in Australia ( date records ), it's more of an American thing.....
Anyways, it's 'effin' hot !
Only 36 days in 80 years ( or 2400 November days ) have exceeded 36C ( 1.5% )

Latest 100°F is Oct 27th, 2016; high was 100°F exactly. Average high that day is 87°F

Richmond got snow today... NYC has not yet..

Here are the years Richmond got accumulating snow 1st before NYC....(waiting on today's official number if RIC got anything to stick).

9 of the 24 years ended up with an above normal snowfall season for NYC. If you eliminate the 5 after 2000, only 4 had above normal season when Richmond got snow before them. YIKES!

Only 9 of the 24 were after December 6th when Richmond got their 1st before NYC

And looking at 2002, 2009 and 2017 Richmond got it first because the same system came from the south.

So if you used the years Richmond got it first but not from same system it's a Pretty sad stat I just found.

Here's the loop for the December 8-9, 2017 system

Springtime. Many of us look forward to it. I can distinctly remember April 8, 2013, the day I first rode in the new 2013 Honda Accord. The grass was a Technicolor green, the greenest I've ever seen it, and it was sunny and about 75 degrees.

But in the High Arctic, spring comes late; the first above-freezing temperature of the year, a marker for spring in many areas well north of the Arctic Circle, sometimes doesn't come until the calendar says summer. How long do the few hardy people north of the 75th parallel have to wait for the thermometer to creep above freezing? Just freezing, 32.0 F / 0.0 C doesn't cut it; it has to go ABOVE freezing, as in a temperature of 32.1 F / 0.1 C or higher recorded.

I compared 7 locations, 4 in Canada, 2 in Greenland, and 1 in Svalbard to figure it out.

Longyearbyen, Svalbard was the runaway earliest: an average date of January 18. In a 45-year period of record, Longyearbyen's gone above freezing on New Year's Day 6 times. In two of these years, 2012/13 and 2015/16, the year transitioned while the temperature was above freezing. 1995 was the longest hold-out, at March 11. The median date was January 10.
Thule Air Base, Greenland was a distant second, averaging April 3 in 67 years of record. Thule was all over the place, with everything from January 1, 7 am (2011) to June 2 (1992), the lone June date. The median date was April 23, but 24 of the 67 years had dates in March or earlier, all before the 18th.
The other Greenlandic location, Danmarkshavn, averaged April 28. In its 47 year record, the first above-freezing date has ranged from January 12 (1987) to June 3 (1979), with a median of May 14. 8 of the 47 years saw dates from January 12 to March 11, while the remaining 39 ranged from April 14 to June 3.

Eureka, Nunavut:
Resolute, Nunavut:
Isachsen, Nunavut:
Alert, Nunavut:
Thule Air Base, GL: April 3, POR 1952-present, missing 1971&1972
Danmarkshavn, GL: April 28, POR 1973-present, missing 2015
Longyearbyen, NO: January 18, POR 1976-present

Post incomplete - will be edited to add remaining information
I'm making a guess of last week of May for Eureka's average, Resolute, Isachsen, and Alert being in the first week of June, Isachsen or Alert being the latest.
Part 2 will be when the LAST above-freezing temperature of the year is.
