Interesting....
the two mildest are facing the Atlantic ......Ireland and Portugal,
every winter where I live has days with lows below their “records”.

I think Ireland is tied with Florida at -19C

Ireland is par with Florida, other US states has quite lower lowest temperature (еxcept Hawai I think).
Ireland has incredibly midl winters for latitude, even northern Greece has colder winters than Ireland.

Interesting that Greece has lower lowest temperature than UK and Netherlands.

Lowest temperatures in Italy and Austria were measured on the Alpine peaks at altitude over 3000 m.

Very cool map. Wonder if they use Mountain sites though.

Yeah, Florida's min is -2°F Feb 13, 1899 in Tallahassee. Interesting that's Portugals is the same. But how many stations were used and how far back? I'm sure if they went back 100yrs there was a station in Portugal with a colder min?

Hawaii's minimum is 12°F(-11C) on May 17, 1979 in Mauna Kea

Puerto Rico's Minimum is 40°F (4C)
Virgin Islands is 51°F (11C)

Louisiana at -16°F(-27C) on Feb 13, 1899 in Minden.

For the first time since December 1983, Oklahoma City set a record for coldest average low temperature for a month. The low of 41.2°F beats the previous average low of 42.8°F in April 1983. The December 1983 average low of 17.6°F is 4.3°F below the second place of 21.9°F in 1989.

For August 1st

The temperature hit 100 degrees in Houston on this date in 2011. This was the first day of 21 consecutive days with
temperatures at or exceeding 100 degrees. All told, the 100 degree threshold was reached or exceeded 32 out of the next
33 days. Houston reached or exceeded 100 degrees 46 times during the summer and early fall of 2011. Hurricane Chantal
made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane near High Island on this date back in 1989. Galveston reported a wind gust at 82
mph. A narrow band of heavy rain associated with Chantal affected parts of Harris County with Houston Hobby Airport
reporting 8.58 inches of rain and Houston Westbury reporting 8.30 inches of rain. 13 deaths were attributed to Chantal
and over 3000 homes were damaged or destroyed. Damage estimates were around $100 million dollars.
