NWS predicted mostly sunny today, weather underground predicted cloudy after 9 am. Weather underground was right. I wonder if they were going by different models? Not as cold this morning as it was mostly cloudy. Definitely no frost.

I wondered if there might be any improvements over yesterday's charts, regarding the transition into summer here in the UK.

It's like a tongue of below just striking the UK. Wierd isn't it. I can't imagine a pattern like that lasting long as it just doesn't seem widespread enough. Hope it changes for you. I have sympathy for anyone dealing with constant below avg conditions after this winter.

Yes it's stupid as hell and that cold plume just stays there week on week and only ever between May and August.

Looks like clouds are from a kink in the ridge (short wave trough) and cool pool of air aloft.

NWS Boston having problems. NWS NY says on track.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
1010 AM EDT FRI MAY 15 2015

HIGH THIN CIRRUS THICKENING ACROSS THE REGION...THICK ENOUGH TO
LIKELY RESULT IN TEMPERATURES PERHAPS NOT WARMING SO READILY LET
ALONE GETTING INTO THE MID-70S ACROSS THE INTERIOR. BY FAR THE
BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN THE NEAR-TERM FORECAST. WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO
TWEAK THE FORECAST...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
1023 AM EDT FRI MAY 15 2015

FORECAST REMAINS LARGELY ON TRACK WITH ONLY MINOR UPDATES NEEDED
TO REFLECT CURRENT TEMPERATURE AND DEW POINT TRENDS. ALSO
INCREASED CLOUD COVER FOR THE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON AS THICK
CIRRUS IS ALREADY OVER THE REGION AHEAD OF A SHORT WAVE TROUGH. NO
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED WITH THIS BRIEF SYSTEM.

We are halfway through May and I got 8.1 mm of precipitation and no big rain event is forecasted.

68 mm (2.7 in) since February 1!

Thanks for checking. And interesting link, will go through the whole chapter at some point. Another forecast disagreement: NWS has a high of 81°F for Sunday, weather underground 87°F. Who'll be right? From the forecast discussion:

SUNDAY...
THE TREND IN THE MODELS IS SLOWER WITH THE BACKDOOR FRONT...WITH
TIMING LATE SUN OR SUN EVENING. THIS MEANS A WARM DAY ON SUNDAY
WITH TEMPS WELL INTO THE 70S AND SOME 80S...ESPECIALLY CT VALLEY BUT
IT IS POSSIBLE EVEN PORTIONS OF E NEW ENG COULD REACH INTO THE 80S
ALTHOUGH SEABREEZES WILL KEEP IT COOLER ALONG IMMEDIATE COAST.

That's more than what we got here near and at the coast. lol

BDR having their driest May on record with just 0.02"(0.50mm). Of course 2 weeks left but we may end up in Top 10 at least.

Less than 1/4" tomorrow so should stay in 1st place will next week

Wow, 80s??! I forgot to check north of me. All I know if forecasts keep showing mid 70s for me. Forget I'm cooler than inland. I think W.U is way too warm. Maybe Mid 80s at most. Im thinking 82 for you.

It should be the Warmest day till June so enjoy it.
