ANOTHER MILD AND HUMID NIGHT
700 PM UPDATE...OVERALL TREND IN THE FORECAST REMAINS ON TRACK FOR THIS EVENING. AS PREV FORECASTER NOTED BELOW...ANA IS HELPING TO KEEP THE BULK OF CONVECTION TO THE NORTH OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND.
HOWEVER BACKDOOR COLD FRONT DID SWING THROUGH AND LOOKS TO HAVE STALLED RIGHT OVER PROVIDENCE AND INTO PUTNAM CT.
IN FACT LOOKING AT MESO OBS...MESONETS IN THE CITY OF PROVIDENCE ARE AT 68F WHILE TF GREEN IS A BALMY 80F. FRONT LOOKS TO HAVE EVENTUALLY STALLED OUT FOR NOW BUT AS ANA APPROACHES FROM THE SOUTH THE FRONT WILL BEGIN TO WORK ITS WAY BACK NORTHEASTWARD.
Line of storms fell apart as it reached here this morning, but then re-formed to the south and east. I didn't hear any thunder and all we had was some light to moderate rain.
Still it stayed cloudy most of the day, and high was only 76F, a lot lower than the mid 80's that were forecast.
It's been very hot here (lower 90sF) for the past few days...but not for those in the northern plains and rockies who got snow! Here is a snow cover map for this morning.
Less than three months ago we had a temp of 2F. Walking to work today with sweat on my brow it is 70F(21C) at 8am with a 66F (19C) dewpoint. That is what I dislike so much about this climate. Where is the moderation? Certainly not in eastern N. America.
I was thinking about that today. Bone dry, bitter cold air with snow just a couple months ago and here we are now in the tropics again (exaggeration, but it is quite muggy).
