My heat is free. In fact I just filled up the oil tank today since oil prices dropped hard. Lowest price I got in 6 yrs! I only fill up once a year. (Avg 20gallons a month) does hot water too. Most people have wood stoves around here but those that don't get a delivery every month in winter

Here's KBOX minimum wind chill temp next 24hrs. Will feel like near 0F here and rain within 24hrs. Sub zero in Worcester & Boston and rain coming.

Back to this real quick... 3 maps. It's not fully over...just waiting for the pendulum to swing back in.

Here's how it will be in 5 days.. Axis of cold down to Midwest while we are seasonable at this point (mid week), then guess what happens...

Axis shifts over to new England for next weekend.. Core of cold around Montreal. Mid West gets seasonable and we're about to end this cold blast... .... Until the new Pendulum swings back in..... and guess what happens...

Still too far for certainty but another, this time "stronger", cold airmass drops into the Midwest, while New England waits for the axis to shift over us..

Current 7am temps. Pretty much 10-20 below normal north of Philly. Single Digits and Teens out there. Did I mention rain in 24hrs?

Where else aside from new England can it be in the single digits (F)/-13C and get rain within 24hrs??

FYI... Do you think the frozen ground will absorb any of the rain? Ground is frozen solid now. Going to be some ice rinks in some backyards. UGH!

1 inch of rain spread out over 12 hrs+/- is not bad but if you get moderate or heavy stuff that's never good.

Current total qpf forecast for the East through 1pm Monday and snowfall total forecast through Monday 7pm.

Generally 1-2" of rain for us here but there might be that local spot that gets over 2".
Snow for northern New England before and after the storm!

Sometimes I wonder about weather.gov current conditions. Personally this is not what I think of when I see "mostly cloudy":

Won't be as warm here as the place in the picture, but 53F and sunny is quite nice for Lexington in January. Have to spend some time outside today.

43F/6C and heavy rain here.

If it was 80F/27C and heavy rain that wouldn't be so bad.

Ahhh, very cool idea. Nice to be able to see webcams now with technology. Clarity on image not all that great but it does look cloudy. Or maybe "most" of the clouds were on the other side and above?

The 10am OBS had Partly cloudy but yeah, last 3 hours have mostly cloudy.

However, look at the webcam now and it does look cloudy

Current winds and temps and Satellite showing clouds are around for sure.. More to North and East than South and West of there. A storm is forming over Georgia which will be our rain here tomorrow!
