1035 AM EST FRI JAN 2 2015


...DECEMBER 2014 WAS WARMER AND GENERALLY DRIER THAN NORMAL...

AFTER A RELATIVELY COOL AND WET NOVEMBER IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA,
DECEMBER ENDED UP GENERALLY WARMER AND DRIER ACROSS MUCH OF THE
REGION. COLD FRONTS WERE NOT AS STRONG AS NOTED EARLIER IN THE
SEASON AND FLOW WAS GENERALLY QUICK TO BECOME ONSHORE BEHIND THE
COLD FRONTAL PASSAGES. A COUPLE OF FRONTS DIMINISHED OR STALLED OUT
ACROSS THE PENINSULA BEFORE LIFTING BACK NORTHWARD AS WARM FRONTS.

.TEMPERATURES...
TEMPERATURES AVERAGED WARMER THAN NORMAL AT EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA
CLIMATE SITES IN DECEMBER. A FEW BRIEF COOLDOWNS AFTER COLD FRONT
PASSAGES OCCURRED ON THE 7TH, 17TH, 25TH AND 30TH. MUCH OF THE
REMAINDER OF DECEMBER WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL WITH RECORD HIGHS
OCCURRING OR BEING TIED ON THE 24TH AND 29TH OF THE MONTH AT
ORLANDO, MELBOURNE AND VERO BEACH.

Unusual afternoon fog since 3 PM. We usually just get fog late at night and during the morning.

The temperature is 52F but is supposed to rise. A warm front is across the area.

66F further south in Lafayette, LA.

Not over here in Detroit. Some lows might get around 0 degrees Fahrenheit this week, perhaps a bit below, but nothing like last year's -13 low with windchills around -35.

Does anyone know if there ever were any winters where Florida had a greater negative anomaly than the rest of the eastern U.S.? Or do we always just get a moderated version of the rest of the country's weather?

Our forecast next week forecast doesn't look so bad. Unfortunately, the chance of snow isn't as strong as I'd like it to be. But we'll see how it turns out. Thursday, high around 20F (-7C)? Cool.

Tuesday
Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 30s. Chance of snow 30 percent.

Tuesday Night
Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow. Lows in the mid 20s.

Wednesday
Partly sunny with scattered flurries. Windy with highs around 30.

Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy and brisk. Lows around 10 above. Wind chill values as low as zero.

Thursday
Mostly sunny and brisk. Highs around 20. Wind chill values as low as zero in the morning.

I cant get any data to load all day! Im statless today!

As far as timing tomorrow. Heres an animation of what the Hi-Res NAM says for Northeast..

2pm its snowing in NYC suburbs and entering CT.

By 5pm its starting to mix as warm air starts to filter in.


By 11pm raining most of the state. Even Vermont changes from snow to sleet to rain

Winter of 2009/10 and perhaps Dec 2010 as well come immediately to mind.
