They always say this in winter, and then when you read the article it states that some random mountain in the middle of nowhere in Scotland will have a night of -15c. The lowest temperature here for the next 2 weeks will be -2c, according to this cold forecast.

Cold air aloft crashing towards the coast. See the freezing line which was in the Ohio Valley?

But notice precip is on the warm side of the freezing line south of Albany. Albany reporting rain because the layers are not all cold yet.

But heads up for refreezing out there and maybe a change to ice and snow overnight if precip is around..

Dry air aloft moving east almost always drys up any precip from a storm.

Severe T-Storm Warning in January?

I know not to expect much, but still. Bring on spring/summer.

Temp 45-51° around there. Nice squall line formed. Nuts but happens. Good chapter to the story of this winter.

Unexpectedly icy day today. Temperature is currently 33 F/1 C. Had some heavy rain this afternoon. I saw a salter go by around 5:00. Roads still must be in questionable condition.

...isolated areas of icing still possible this evening...

Temperatures continue to slowly rise across hartford county...and
western and central massachusetts this evening. While most
locations were above freezing...isolated areas which are below
freezing continue to linger.

Some areas most likely to experience possible icing this evening
are those from westford massachusetts...northwest to townsend
massachusetts in northern middlesex and worcester counties.

Other areas are the normally colder locations within the
connecticut river and its tributaries.

Temperatures are expected to continue to slowly rise this evening.
We will need to monitor temperatures late tonight as well. As they
fall below freezing...wet...untreated...surfaces could refreeze.

As someone pointed out in the other thread, it's in the 50s in Eastern Massachusetts right now. Down to the lower 30s here. Crazy...

Apparently it was sunny and mild in Nantucket most of the day. Very odd.
