Wow storm bombed out as it reached the coast. It was 992 over Southern Indiana....
Snow melt will begin tomorrow
According to the Euro someone might be getting a St Patty's Day storm spinning out of Texas. Of course a Spring version of the Polar Vortex is coming next week...

So what happens when you have a digging trough, a storm rounding the base, exiting mid atlantic and gulf moisture to tap into?
Here's Canadian at hr 96 Sunday 7pm
And here's what it says hr 138 Tuesday afternoon and the snow totals because of it. Insane!!
Here's what NWS NY has to say... Says the Canadian is the odd ball because GFS and Euro show High pressure over us. Canadian shows the High pressure North more which allows the precip to move into the area. however they will keep a chance of precip in the forecast because its still far out and possible.
SFC LOW PRES THEN ORGANIZES OVER THE GULF COAST STATES ON SUNDAY BEFORE EJECTING INTO THE MID-ATLANTIC SUNDAY NIGHT. THERE IS UNCERTAINTY AS TO HIGH FAR NORTH THIS LOW WILL TRACK. 00Z GFS AND 00Z ECMWF KEEP THE STRONG HIGH OVER THE AREA...AND THE LOW WILL PASS SOUTH OF THE AREA SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. 00Z CMC HAS THE HIGH MUCH FARTHER NORTH...SO THE LOW IS ABLE TO LIFT PRECIP INTO THE REGION DURING THIS TIME...MUCH OF IT IN THE FORM OF SNOW. CMC KEEPS THE PRIMARY LOW OFFSHORE...AND THEN A SECONDARY LOW WILL FOLLOW BEHIND IT ON TUESDAY. THIS SOLUTION IS AN OUTLIER. GIVEN HOW FAR OUT THIS...DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE POPS...SO WILL CONTINUE TO CARRY CHANCE POPS SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY...AND WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SITUATION.
HIGH PRES THEN DEPARTS ON TUESDAY...AND THEN ANOTHER COLD FRONT
APPROACHES FOR THE MID-WEEK PERIOD.
BELOW NORMAL TEMPS ON TAP FOR THE LONG TERM PERIOD
When I got up about 7:20 it was to find big fat snow flakes falling at a pretty good clip. Looking west to the ridge top in a neighbor's pasture I can see the winds blowing great swirls of snow around as though it were a sand storm so it's impossible to say just how much has fallen but it's less than an inch. To the south I see bright blue skies.
