Some sporadic cells blew up about an hour ago around CHI. Lightning, winds, and downpours small hail but nothing crazy.

At 1PM it's 53F/11C at ORD, but 64F/18C at MDW.

Oh and a beautiful start to May

Western Warmth
Very strong ridge of high pressure aloft will remain anchored along the West Coast through Thursday before breaking down. This pattern will keep the weather dry and unseasonably warm for much of BC, especially western BC through Thursday.
By the weekend, a strong northwesterly upper-level flow will direct unseasonably cold air down through the Prairies with temperatures averaging 5-10 degrees C. below normal for the weekend.
Long range forecast model update.....

Current temps/Radar. It's actually warmer in northern Vermont than northern Mid Atlantic.

Struggling past 40s here. 70s up into Michigan!

A Very interesting Temp Departure map right now. Normally upper 50s in Nebraska but only in 30s midday! Normally 60s in southern Michigan but in the 70s right now.

High of 48°F today and cloudy, doesn't feel like late April. Buds are more obvious on the trees at least, maybe I'll take some photos tonight.

We seem to always get a handful of cool days like this in the middle of spring. Must be the easterly wind.
