Forecast changed to 2-4 inches of snow tonight. Half to 3/4 of an inch of rain today preceding the snow. Much of the snow will probably melt when hits the ground.

Wow that should be interesting.

Flood Watch remains in effect here with 1.5-3 inches of rain possible. Winter Weather Advisory tonight for 1-4 inches of snow, though some places might receive up to 6 if conditions allow.

Much of the US is running below average. Looks like seasonally cool weather will finally be arriving to the east coast and northeast.

Current temperatures in select cities:

Memphis: 36 F (snow this morning)
Phoenix: 54 F
Minneapolis: 27 F (may drop down to 0 F this week)
Atlanta: 44 F
Tallahassee: 52 F
Nashville: 41 F

Northeast cities are currently in the 40s and 50s with rain. Myrtle Beach is a balmy 70 F.

Such refreshing temperatures considering the hellish summers these places experience.

A colder than average and dull start to December here, with quite a bit of snow.

For the first week of December here:

Avg max temp: 4.9°C / 40.8°F
Avg min temp: 1.6°C / 34.9°F

Precip (mm): 53.6, mostly in the form of snow or hail
Sunshine hours: 1.9 - a sunny week

The highlight of it for me was the hail and thunder on the 4th. I can do without snow, and its disruption to my life.

Snow is only disruption if your local council is incompetent with removing it.. our local council are pretty good.

Anyway, tomorrows wind storm looks very severe for northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.. batten down the hatches.

Our council is very good.

I'm talking about bendy dangerous roads which are many miles long and up to elevations of 1700ft which get buried in snow and HAVE to be closed no matter what. Not quite so simple. Try looking up the "Cat and Fiddle" A537 road, Buxton to Macclesfield, I have to drive it every day, it is in the top 5 most dangerous roads in the UK without bad weather to complicate things, who do you think is going to be able to clear it, especially when it continues to snow for hours? It's 12 miles long, and inclines make it impossible for snow shifting equipments to go down it, and by the time they get to the end a new layer of snow would have formed, and become slippery again.

Being chock full of sharp bends and steep inclines, impossible to drive down in icy conditions.
