Some forecasts are saying the temperature here over the next week will fall to -9C/16F.. I doubt it, but it's nice to see anyway.. even the usually conservative Met Office are saying temperatures down to -4C/25F and they often over-estimate night time temperatures, and this is for Leeds proper and not the outer areas

It looks to me like the weather pattern will improve (meaning closer to cold/stormy ) over Western Europe and North America over the next 10 days or so. It's well past time, but better late than never for all of you winter weather fans in those parts.

I do not understand why so many weather fanatics and coldies in the UK seem to believe these easterly high pressure set ups in winter bring crystal clear skies and sunshine.

Rarely is that ever the case, and case in point, since this pattern began it's been 100% slate gray boring pointless overcast crap since day one.

I'd far rather have it mild and cloudy than this cold cloudy crap, it's tedious and annoying. If the sun really did shine, I wouldn't mind so much.

...and it's a lovely Summer day here in Alaska . Er...mid-Winter. Seriously, in temperatures like you're having in New Jersey, mentally I go into Summer mode. And your weather isn't far off from a coastal Alaskan summer. Such are the perils of living at the margin of the subtropics during Wintertime (no offense intended, just having some fun).

Easterlies typically deliver cloudy weather to the UK, what coldies hope for us massive amounts of snow like February 1947 which was also incredibly dull. I'm in agreement with you though, really uninteresting weather.. hopefully winter (for me) can squeeze something interesting before Spring arrives.

LMFAO! It's weird that we're in April and there's no blooms out yet... Oh wait...

This explains the winter the best..

We've seen this all winter long. Six or seven days out, we see the potential of a major storm, only to have it pulled away from us as we get closer to the day of supposed threat. Just like Lucy urging Charlie Brown to kick the football, only she pulls it away at the last minute. Perfect analogy for how the models say: "Look everyone! A major snowstorm! Arctic Air!" only to pull the threat away (like the football) a few days later.

None taken, it's just reality. Though I would prefer some snow and cold, I can't complain about 50s. Still superior compared to typical summer weather.

Lol, great analogy Cambrium.
