Minimum Temps in Europe. Crazy stuff. Its in Celcius.
Neat map. The coldest, exluding european Russia, was in Scandinavia again. Hi/lo in Gallivare, Sweden were -31/-37°C (-24/-35°F).
I'm impressed by the widespread -33°C stuff in Western Ukraine. It's currently snowing and -19°C in Ivano-Frankivsk. The high was -18°C there. Though -30°C is not a rare occurence there, both 2006 and 2010 bottomed out at -32°C in Ivano-Frankivsk.
While we are due to get our main snow tomorrow, all the hills of the Peak District around me are entirely covered in a thin covering of snow from last week, looks very photogenic as I drive the winding road through there at sunshine, all glowing white. I took some pictures.
Last post about it until I see it consistantly showing.
This is the surface temps from the same model. Not too bad. Even for Canada 10-20 Below zero is manageable.
Feb. 11th & Feb 13th.
That is nothing compared to what could happen in other winters.
No Dice, Phil: More Winter for U.S., But Not Six Weeks (http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/no-dice-phil-more-winter-for-u/61042 - broken link)
The 15 days accu-weather forecast for my area has only one day in the next 15 that is below 40F, and the forecasted high temp is 39F. Most days above normal with a couple slightly below. Pfft.
I used the same site as you. For us, cool but mild for our standards for the next week (highs averaging around 40). I noticed accuweather predicts colder highs than NOAA.
Accuweather is predicting a cold period with highs freezing or barely going above freezing from Feb 11-15. Small snowstorm around the 14th with about 5 inches.
Not very impressive in Buxton, a bit of sleety snow, very light indeed, maybe 1cm. Looking at the netweather.tv radar it appears that it's all been fizzling out over Buxton and the Peak District with the heavier echoes remaining to the west.
