Funny how day length and sun strength are often more of an indicator of the season than the actual temperature. Eg, the summer (June 1-August 31) had an average of 16.6C (0.5C below average) whereas the first 14 days of September have averaged 16.7C (1.8C above), and the average minimum so far this month of 13.5C is above that in any summer month this year, but nobody would think this month had been warmer than summer unless they saw the figures. I've already got to the stage where I wear a jacket to go out just in case.
Is June more summer than September where you are? I know in a lot of maritime climes September is about the same or warmer than June.
We should be well into spring by now, but the cold and gloom just won't go away! Highs are barely breaking the 50 F mark. Is this mid-September or is this mid-July?

At first I noticed some trees turning yellow, brown or falling off. But now, I'm seeing some red, but it's still mostly green out there. We don't peak until about mid October, but this nice 2-day stretch of "fall" will help. And by fall, I mean highs in the 50s,60s lows in the 40s.

Not here, not quite at least. The June average here is 20.2/11.1C, the September average 18.7/11.1C. There are some years when September is warmer than June, but it's not usual unless you go to some of the more coastal areas. For example the Isles of Scilly have a June at 17/12C, a September 18/13C. Even there though, I'd suspect people consider September to be less summery than June.
Must be the first clear morning for months, today.
Probably isn't going to stay that way. Temp is 13.6°C after a low of 6.8°C. No frosts for us yet. And when I get "Darn Sarf" this weekend hopefully won't be any frosts for another couple of months.

I LOVE AUTUMN!!! I just took my dog out for a walk and what a beautiful wind is blowing, it feels so cool. I have been waiting for this since June 2011, it's been one hell of a summer. I hope it is done in our area, I live in New Jersey. I much prefer the cool weather over the hot weather because at least when it's cold you can breathe. With all the heat and humidity that we had this summer it made it really difficult to breathe, the air was just so heavy and thick. I can't stand the summer and I'm glad to finally be feeling the cool, crisp air and seeing the beautiful colors of the trees. Fall/Winter, my favorite seasons. God truly has done wonders when you look at the beauty that there is in nature. For all who suffered this summer, enjoy the cooler weather-I know I will!! Enjoy everybody.
Fantastic end of winter here in BA!!!
The first 15 days of september have been wonderful in weather! SUNNY, between 60-75 and LOW IN HUMIDITY!!! Yesterday we were in the 20% wich is very low for here, and we ve had several days with that non-humidity. And ALL DAYS have been sunny!
AMazing, ha?
I wonder how the second part of september is gonna be.
First true "autumnal" day of the season with afternoon temperatures in the 50s. Leaves are changing and even some were falling. Hopefully we can sayonara to summer, though I expect there'll be some more warm days before it permanently cools off.
