It was -17 here this morning...I wasn't expecting it to be that cold. Luckily I checked before I took the dogs out! But beautiful sunny day so far. Calm before the storm!

Guessing 6" of snow fell by 10 p.m. Thurs. night. Now the wind has come up and it's sleeting or freezing rain-whatever you call it when ice falls from the sky.
Hoping it turns back to snow soon, because ice could be much riskier than snow (in terms of power outages and traffic accidents).

Ice falling from the sky???? Here in California, we can't even imagine something like that! Our weather is mind-numbingly boring. But it makes life easier, I guess.

I would say we've got a good 6-8" so far thought the heaviest is coming down now...hard to tell since it's so windy and there's drifts everywhere.

Up here we are seeing the same thing. Lots of wind and drifting. In the areas were there is no wind or drifting, it looks like 4-6 inches on the ground. No where near the predicted for the storm. We will have to see how the AM goes. Right now it's light snow, but they are saying we could get more by the time the storm winds down. We will have to enjoy it this weekend, it looks like we are heading for a warm-up for most of next week (and possibly further) with rain on Thurs and Friday.

I had more than a foot this morning and it's still coming down. I awoke at 4am to hear the snow coming off the roof leaving a 4 ft high pile in front of my garage doors, back deck and front porch. The snowblower will get plenty of use today!

I'm hearing almost two feet of snow has fallen already. Nothing like waking up to a big dig.

From shoveling out today, I'd guess that 10+ inches piled up here.
Hard to say for sure, due to how much the snow drifted with the wind overnight.
