Enjoy your weekend everyone. Temps in the 40s today.

Clipper to the north in Canada will rotate some precip around in VT. Chance of showers and snow showers for higher elevations.

Cold front and NW winds tonight. Can you believe the Mid Atlantic is getting snow again Sunday night!?? Missing me to the south just like 3/3/14.

Current Temps, Radar and Surface pressure

I know we are going to cool off again for a couple days, but spring is in the air. We have lost close to half the snow we just had and it's raining here. The end of the week will warm up again with the chance of more rain.

Morning temps out there. Very little wind so only few spots feel lower than they are.

The lows across Vermont have only been above normal 3 times this month. (using BTV,RUT,Bennington)

Yesterday morning definitely was a lot colder...but at this point, winter is losing the battle...even though we topped out at 18 degrees yesterday, the sun is so strong that stuff is melting. Spring is on the way!

Yup. Naturally as time moves on into Spring/Summer we start to moderate...or will we? LOL. We can look back at history and see years where people waited and waited and Spring weather never came. then summer was like Spring and winter in the Fall. Will this be one of those historic years? Nobody knows.

But yeah.. I think we all can agree that the temps aren't and cant be sustained in the single digits/teens anymore going forward.

But I hate to be the bearer of bad news... Spring weather is only going to show up as a pop. Meaning we'll get warm but only a day or 2 and overall still be cool and below normal.

These are graphics from NOAA showing the potential for above/below normal temps next 2 weeks. We're in the purple which means likely staying below normal.

You can find these maps here.

I hope everyone has a stock of maple syrup from last year. This is a horrible season and prices will be high. It seems like we are going to go from cold to warm temps. We have several friends who produce maple syrup and the only people boiling on a regular basis are the people with vacuum systems.

Interesting. This was written couple days ago from Wisconsin includes a video. Keep us posted.

“Since the ground is still frozen, sap isn't able to flow through the trees. This could actually end up shortening the season, but extractors are remaining optimistic.

“The conditions have to be below freezing at night and above freezing during the day. So the sap has a freeze - thaw which actually pushes it through the tree." Conditions that the Welty Environmental director Lena Verkuilen says haven't happened very much this season, “If it stays cold then we just won't get very much sap."

Which would drive up prices. They usually start tapping maples the last week of February, but this year the center wasn't able to start the process until this past weekend. “
