Rave: Campfire sounds relaxing
Rant: Business partner went to the hills for his kids teener baseball game. Pine beetles apparently are
nailing the southern Black Hills. Hate hearing that news. I love visiting the hills.
Rave: been on vacation since May 30th (did I mention how much I love my new job?)
Rave: long 4000 mile, 12 day road trip with no problems, and we didn't try to kill each other
Rave: dad and step mom visiting from Texas after we got back
Rant: this vacation is kicking my butt!
Rave: still three more days before I have to go back to work, and nothing pressing on the calendar - I FINALLY get to relax!
Rant: went on nice drive thru the Hills today - stopped in Lead at the Black Hills Roundhouse for lunch. we both ordered a simple sandwich - French dip with home made chips as a side. They took our order - ten minutes later came and told us it would be another 25 minutes before our food would be ready. Then when it finally came - the promised baguette was more like a hoagie roll and the au jus had over a quarter of inch of grease on top and no flavoer --

Rave: beautiful setting -- now if they would only get their act together
Rave: Cast iron and campfire meals. Cooked on a bed of coals. It was amazing.
Rave: bacon, bacon makes everything better.
Rave: My little half ton Ford with a V6 Motor pulled like a champ. I am impressed.
Rave: Duct tape is handy. ANd we survived the rain all high and dry.
Rant: Went to take the garbage out before going to bed and saw a flickering orange glow and sparks flying from a neighbor's house.
Rave: Discovered I am not a bystander and ran to their house to wake them up and get them out. RANT: Dude is out on his back porch at midnight drinking beer and burning an old wood pile in a howling windstorm under extreme grassland fire danger conditions while the wind carries the embers onto the roofs of his neighbors' houses as they sleep.
Rave: Was able to convince him that perhaps this should wait for a better time and more optimal conditions and that he should put the fire out. Carefully. Thank you.
Rant: I won't sleep at all tonight. I keep going outside and checking to make sure my roof isn't on fire.
Rant: Bad names and dirty words. The display on my laptop is on its way out.
Rant: new computer time.
Rave: I am going to either do an ipad or a Mac of some sort.
Rave: Another short camping adventure later on this week.
Rant: Need to repack the wheel bearings and fix some other small details.
Rave: Garden looking pretty good. The rain last night was amazing.
Rave: used some of the herbs in last nights supper. Yum.
Rave: We got 2/10 of an inch of rain today.
Rant: I had one mosquito on my deck. The first that I have seen here.
Rave: I killed it.
