Totally! With the little flag that you ran up the napkin holder when you wanted something else...blast from the past for SURE! Thanks!

There is still one panchos here in SA, by Marbach and 410. The place looks very old.

I believe Panchos is around in Houston as well. Quite a few things that have long since been GBNF in SA are still alive and well in other parts of the country:

Shakey's Pizza is still around on the West Coast
Mr. Dunderbak is on the East Coast

I stopped at a Shakeys pizza parlor when I was in Japan. My first time there and I was not impressed but then again this was in Japan.

Did you get corn on your pizza??? That kinda grossed me out about pizza in Japan. Now if you get to Thailand, the "Swensens Ice Cream" is EXACTLY like the ones that were here in the 70's....sooooo wonderful! LOVED the Coit's Tower!!!

Default Pancho's Table Flagging,

I always thought it not very good food of whatever variety. It was like the
White Castle of Tex-Mex.
Even if was- all you could eat for $1.99- the last time I was there.
I remember the little flag and pole at each table was for surrendering.
To be able to eat two of the stainless steel platefuls was a gastronomic feat . Didn't know there was still one at Marbach Rd though.
Is it still all you can eat and what is the cost nowadays, for curiositiies sake?

And there is still a People's restaurant in Corpus, minus the giant salad bar. Havent checked it out yet to see if they still have the benches with shoes on them for feet.

And they have K-Bob's Steak House, which we had here in the 80's. In fact, they just opened a new one in Rockport last summer.

Looks like they are still around and growing, not just here. It would be cool if they opened a franchise at Wonderland of the Americas.

It was called Mr. Dunderbak's Bavarian Pantry. They had the best corned beef sandwiches I've ever eaten.
There is still one left in the country, it even still has the same logo!!!

Mr. Dunderbak's Bavarian Restaurant & Deli | Daytona Beach, Florida

Looks like the main company, though, is no more. Their trademark expired in 2006

MR. DUNDERBAK'S BAVARIAN PANTRY Trademark of MR. DUNDERBAK, INC. - Registration Number 0791118 - Serial Number 72204459 :: Justia Trademarks :: Justia Trademarks
