Did you know on Mar 5 1966 Shakeys opened their first SA location on San Pedro.

I remember the Shakey's on Austin Highway. Used to love to watch the pizza chefs toss the dough into the air. Along Austin Hwy we would also frequent: First Mate, Frontier, Bun and Barrel, and Bassett's. Tee Pee Steakhouse was for special occasions. Would go to Mcbees's Fine Meats to grill a steak at home. Austin Highway sure isn't what it used to be. But then again, what is?

Frontier was in front of what is now the Lowe's complex, just about behind where the McDonald's is now.

First Mate was at Vandiver, where Little Ceasar's and Shipley's are now.
