They are $319.95 at Costco and with the rebate from CPS, would be well under that in cost.

Good Morning,

It seems that I read in the most recent CPS Bill insert that the Solar Attic Fan Rebate was going to end. I could be incorrect and if I am I'm sorry.

I know CPS has stopped the spray-on radiant barrier rebates due to so many inferior products being on the market. That was in the last bill's newsletter.

the builder did that spray on radiant barrier when they forgot to install the real radiant barrier on my house and it was a joke. It looked like a monkey went up there with a can and sprayed random patterns in random areas. I had the builder look at it and they gave me a truckload of blow-in insulation to make up for it..

Did any of you opt for the Solar Board (whatever the name is) when you had your Centex Homes built. We did and it has helped. I guess we have the temps. to blame for the $100.00 increase over last month. This has been the highest yet.

If I can ask , How were your CPS Bills this time around, ours was $235.56 .Our home is 1999 sq. ft.

Whats' your secret?
My Wife retired early and she is home more. Our Son is working part time. We turn lights off when not in use. The AC is set at 78 24/7. We have Solar Screens on all windows. A lot of shade although not very much over the house. We have two story homes on both sides. Ceiling Fans in every room with the exception of Kitchen and Pantry

The AC filters are changed every 60 days. We don't use the dishwasher and the hot water temp is set at 120. Most showers are 5-10 minutes.

The only change I see is that our Son and his part time job require that his clothes be washed daily since he only has one shirt. (Maybe that shirt isnt washed daily since he only works 4-5 days each week. We try to add more dark clothes to have a bigger load. We purchased a new washer and dryer three months ago and we use the load sensor when we dry.

I can't see an extra $100.00 on the bill.

eesh, I'll pay the extra money to live in comfort.. those temps are just way too high for my northern blood

have you had your a/c unit inspected lately? a good coolant balance makes a huge difference. Also spray off the outside coil. or just have a technician come out and do it all for you. I know Airtron will do two per year for $150.

Well I will admit we have not had it serviced this year.

Can I ask what a Coolant Balance is?

We had a new 16 SERE a/c installed last year. I'm sure that has saved us some money this year. Make sure you inside coils are clean as well. Sounds like you have the 1" filters since you change them every 60 days. Those can still let some dust by and it'll stick to the inside coils. Good point about spraying the outside coils too...should be done at least once a year.

Don't run the ceiling fans unless you are in the room to feel the benefit. Otherwise, you're just moving air around that same room for no reason.

Our washer/dryer is a about 4 years old but it is much more energy efficient that what we had before that. The washer spins at 1000 rpm and the clothes come out of the washer about 40% dryer than from a standard washer. The dryer is a top load as well and has auto sensing. The dryer is the main electricity user of the two so thankfully, we don't have to run it as long since the washer helps get the excess water out.
