stoneoak,

Bringing it back on topic since I think it was my comments and your response that started this....

It's not the fact that you write a check......that's your choice. The fact is, if the check is ready to be filled out when you get the total, it really doesn't take much longer than processing the plastic - if its longer at all. It sounds like you are rather proficient at it. ;-)

In my opinion, the rudeness kicks in when a person stands there and it's almost like it just dawned on them that they have to pay for their items. It's then they start rummaging through their wallet or purse for a check, then the pen. It's the same rudeness that takes place when a person is standing there sorting through their stack of credit cards trying to find which one to use....or finding the cash.

My point was to just be ready when the total is given. A person can watch and verify the scanning with the checkbook, wallet, card or cash in hand ready to go...especially when they've stood there and watched the person in front of them do the same thing.

Id like to know her secret for getting the cashier to wait to start ringing her up. Oh wait, I bet it is a sweet, " can you wait for me, please?" type of thing. LOL sure.

Huh? I must have missed a post or two that you are referring to. Either way I am simply stating how I feel about something that happened to me. Noone can alter that.

I need to start wearing a sign when I shop because I am total bad luck in the checkout line. I feel for anyone that gets behind me. It never fails, every single time I pick a checkout line the person in front of me has a cart full of groceries that they want to pay for in 4 different transactions.

Sabres,
You aren't going to like me. When I take my students shopping we have to do seperate transactions. They are to learn life skills and this involves shopping for items and paying for them on their own. It never fails, there is always a customer that gets behind me and rolls their eyes. I always explain to them what we are doing so they can decide to stay or find another checkout lane.

... don't parents do this anymore?

That is where I learned my shopping skills. It all started by pushing
the grocery cart for mom.

The irritant is that they are no where near me and I wouldn't even have noticed them if they hadn't spoke, thus breaking my chain of thought. In a way, they are bullying me into acknowledging them as a person.

The other peeve is obvious, who wants peope coming at you head on when you are in the "right lane"?

LOL @ bullying. Most over-used term of 2011.
