Is there basically only HEB? I know there's a Central Market, and of course, the Wal Mart Supercenters, but are there any other supermarkets or natural food stores at all?

Growing up in Central TX, I loved HEB, but come on, there's gotta be a little variety and competition, right?

Super Target? And if you can, try the Lackland AF Base Commissary...some things you can get there you can't find at HEB, etc.

....La Fiesta, Whole Foods, Sam's, Costco, and there's still the odd Handy Andy. The 99¢ Only stores have a surprisingly good selection, and often have some unheard of bargains (.99 for a 1/2 gallon ice cream or Oscar Meyer center cut bacon).

Otherwise, HEB owns SA.

Yes, we're military, but I'm not the type who likes to do all my shopping once a month. I like to go maybe a couple times a week for fruit, veggies, fresh bread...and sometimes battling the retirees at the commissary and avoiding paydays gets a little old. BUt yes, it's a viable option! Target groceries are way too expensive for my primary shopping. A few things here and there are OK.

Hey thanks. I know WF = whole paycheck, but it's a relief that there will be a *little* variety in town!

HEB doesn't double coupons, but we also have Sun Harvest which is a local chain of natural grocery stores.
