There is no going back once they were offered at $99. If the price went up then people will be upset and very few would buy them then.

Maybe they are doing this out of fairness so that no one is left without one after all that silly buying frenzy. I don't want that crap personally so I am not jealous and those that do want one and missed the first round have no reason to be jealous as HP is making more.

Still quite a few ads in today's EN with TouchPads selling for $400-500. Makes you wonder how far in advance they make these ads up and why it takes so long to update them.

It's a fine device once it has been patched.
The screen is great, it's fast and the multitasking works wonderfully.

I run a rooted Android Thunderbolt. It's only a matter of time before CyanogenMod finally finishes their ROM for the Touchpad. No, you don't need to pay someone else to reverse engineer it for you. That's what the Android developer community does. They give back to their community.

Some posting fake half-truths in this thread. The HP Touch Pad will be a great device running Android in a few weeks. The primary problem was with WebOS and the lackluster developer support.

The problem is, a few people in this thread read a few articles on NON-Tech sites and pretend they're experts.

I saw the video of 2.3.5 booting up on a TouchPad yesterday, so it's only a matter of time.. and by time, I mean a while, not like next week or anything. I work with developers on a daily basis, so I know that something that might seem relatively easy isn't always that easy. I do predict I'll be running on Android (maybe ICS?) by probably Thanksgiving at the latest.

Yeah...rooting is super easy. I rooted a Sprint EVO phone (not the 3d version, but the regular) via an online website and then flashed the phone myself (with the ROM and instructions from online) to Cricket Wireless.
