I'm looking for a one bedroom apartment for under 750. It has to be in a SAFE area and within a 45 minute drive from San Antonio. Where can I find such a place?

Also, not a dump......can be simple but has to be clean.

wow, those are some pretty broad parameters. can you tell us anything to narrow down the search? also what is your definition of safe? i grew up in the ghetto and never felt unsafe.

i currently live in a 1 br apt near I-10 and 410, the complex is about 2 or 3 years old and fairly nice. my rent is about 720 for the larger 1 br. i am about 15 mins from downtown in rush hour.

My definition of "SAFE": 1) I can take a walk at night / early morning by myself and not get attacked / robbed. 2) A place where my apartment and my car will not get broken into.

Moderator cut: orphaned ref

Seriously...call an aparment locator or "Move for Free.com" You should be able to find a number of very nice 1 bedroom apartments for $750 in some pretty nice areas....and definitely within 45 mins of downtown. The advantage is that you can be very specific with a locator, and they often can give you inside info on move in specials or free deposits etc.

Good luck and welcome to SA!

PS....if you get some names for "look and Lease"...that means you once you visit the property, they'll cut you a deal for leasing that same day. You can get some good deals, but come back here and ask for a quick run by on some of the locations and properties. I'm sure you'll get PLENTY of comments!

can you please provide some examples....names of places. The problem with rent.com or move.com or similar sites, is that all these places look good on pictures, but these sites don't tell you anything about the SAFETY of the neighborhood.

Why don't you tell us some of the places you like, and maybe we can tell you the real deal on them. Your parameters are so broad that there are way too many apartment choices to list. You tell us, then we'll probably be able to help you better.

when I do a search on move.com for places under 700, a lot of matches come up. I'm guessing a lot of them are not very good especially the cheaper ones (even though they look great on pictures). Can you tell me which ones are good. Too many to list, can you do the same search....within 20 miles of San Antonio, under 700.

Try "Apartment Now",
I just went there today and they were very helpful
San Antonio, TX Apartments Now - San Antonio Texas Apartments, Condos and Townhomes

Go by or give them a call

BTW,
don't trust www.apartmentratings.com very much.
I spent several days finding the 10 places with the best rating in the area that I'm interested in.
We are in San Antonio and my wife didn't the apartments that we visited,
she convinced me to go to other apartments in the area,
we visited one that has 44 reviews and a rating of 1.7 / 5 (very bad rating)
we really liked the place, I decided to drive there in the late afternoon and ask people about some of the comments in apartmentratings.com and a man and an older lady told me that the place is very nice and there's nothing wrong with it.
