To try to separate politics from outcomes is a fool's errand at this point.
The Providence police were not defunded.

And you could double the amount of police and it wouldn't have prevented these shootings

In this chaotic and violent new world, the police are the best friends any of you could ever have. Count on it.

As some of you may have heard by now, four suspects have been arrested on charges related to the Washington Park mass shooting. Included is a 23 minute video, giving us a good idea of what the police (and the community) are up against.

Providence Police say the four suspects who fired first and are now facing a slew of charges are: Ricardo Cosme Tejada, who police say had been out on bail on a ghost gun charge; Reynaldo Rivera, who police say has now already posted $10,000 bail on these charges and is out from behind bars; George Rios, who is still in critical condition at the hospital’ and Jordanny Britto.

That claim is pretty suspect. A lot of this violence is like a cancer, nip it early you have a good chance of containing it. Let it spread unchecked until its symptoms are quite visible, you got a big problem on your hands and lucky if there's any chance of remission. With a minimally staffed police force, there can be little pro-active policing which creates a habitat for thuggery to thrive.

Police ID man found shot to death in Olneyville parking lot

https://www.wpri.com/news/local-news...e-parking-lot/

"PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) ─ Detectives in Providence believe they’re searching for two suspects in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old man in the city’s Olneyville section last week.
The victim, identified by police as Tyreik Grundy, was found shot to death inside a vehicle parked in a lot off of Pope Street.
Police believe two people walked up to the vehicle and shot Grundy, though no arrests have been made at this time.
It was the city’s eighth homicide of the year.
Detectives are also investigating whether Grundy’s murder is connected to a string of shootings that have occurred over the past week."

Four dangerous and violent would-be killers taken off the streets by police. Not bad work for a bunch of b******s. It's definitely easier to sit at one's keyboard and denigrate than to perform dangerous community service.

The discouraging part is that after all of that work, one of them is already back out on the streets.

Not as concerned about a violent new world, as a violent new domestic authoritarianism movement. According to the FBI, the greatest threat of organized violence to America comes from highly organized groups & militias within, not outside. Indeed, if true, in the end police are all that can stand between domestic fascism and maintaining democracy. It's my understanding, this FBI warning has made watching these domestic groups a police priority nationwide. Seems January 6th was an eye opener.

Honestly, in Providence? I didn't realize that the murderous thugs and outlaw ATV riders were Skinheads. Why not save your Left Wing claptrap for the politics forum?

I wasn't the one waxing on about a " chaotic & violent new world". If you want to stick to the streets of PVD, stick to it - rather than right wing (oh, I mean "moderate") claptrap.
