Boy how much more fake can Elorza spin this for his buddies, and when is he going to stop licking their feet? Everybody knows this particular event is rife with drugs, violence and other trouble. With the surge in crime this city and others are experiencing, I just think this is NOT what Providence needs at the moment.

It's all about a run for Governor, but it could backfire...
"Officers said they responded to the area of Randall Street between Whitman and Main Streets at 1:45 p.m. after residents said they heard gunshots. "At first I think it's fireworks," said Pawtucket resident Manuel Angel Evillalonasimo. "So, I look outside my window and see a bunch of people running toward the scene." "I saw a couple of teens, I think, screaming at someone who was in a stretcher saying to wake up," he said. "It's terrifying having it really close to where I'm at." Police said they found a man at the scene inside of his car suffering from several gunshot wounds. Det. Sgt. Christopher LeFort said he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead."
"Mendes said Tavares was dropping off his mom after helping her run errands and was then shot right in front of his house. "He's young. He has a 9-month-old son," she said."
"PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Pawtucket police say they’ve made two arrests in connection with a homicide last month. On May 15, Leonardo Tavares, 20, was found inside a vehicle on Randall Street suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to police. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead. On Saturday, Jahcolin Rodrigues, 20, of Providence, and Todd Alicea, 30, of Pawtucket, were arrested and charged with the homicide."

Can't wait for PVD fest. It's a great time. Was talking to a couple worker who wishes they would make it a multi weekend event. Not sure about that. It's an idea though. Super fun. Had some great bands last time. I hope they can attract that caliber of talent again. Exactly what this city needs. Along with waterfire. No idea why a small festival would be posted in this crime fetish thread though.

"Two years ago, an innocent bystander was left paralyzed after what was believed to be a gang-involved drive-by shooting during PVDFest. Mike Marrow was interviewing one of the hip-hop artists after a performance for the Providence Cultural Equity Initiative, near the festival, when he was shot and wounded."
Police Raised Public Safety Concerns To Elorza Before PVDFest
"Providence Police urged Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza not to allow open alcohol container drinking at PVDFest, but Elorza overruled them.On Saturday night at 11 pm, a gunman ripped off a number of shots sending hundreds of PVDFest attendees running. The shooting was the second shooting at PDVFest in the past three years. In 2017, Mike Marrow was shot and paralyzed."

"Rodrigues has another open felony case out of Providence. Court records show he was arrested May 26 by Providence police and on June 4 arraigned on a slew of drug and gun offenses. A search and seizure warrant in connection with that case was returned on June 8, the same day Pawtucket police filed their criminal charges in connection with the May 15 drive-by shooting. At the time of his arrest in connection with the Pawtucket shooting, Alicea was wanted by Rhode Island State Police in connection with an alleged June 5 reckless driving case, records show. Additionally, Rodrigues was arrested in Providence in February and charged with having an illegal gun in his car. In that case, he was released on $3,000 personal recognizance."
So my question would be the obvious "WHY WASN'T THIS MAN ALREADY IN JAIL???"
Alicea last appeared to be living on Harrison St., which the MEAN STREETS of Pawtucket.

I have a friend who was around the corner from the shots fired in the air incident, and she didn’t even know it had happened until she saw it on the news later. It isn’t keeping me away. If you are afraid, just stick with your original plans and don’t go.

I was there right before it, but events were over. In reality it was after the fest was done. Technically one stage (not near this non shooting incident... calling it a shooting is a lie... a shooting is when someone is shot, an attempted shooting is when someone was shot at... neither apply here... damn words!) was open according to the calendar, but it wasn't in reality and people had been leaving. Associating it with PVDfest is a stretch, but thats what conservative profit driven news outlets do. Sensationalism for ratings.
But if people are scared to come to Providence for some odd reason, they should stay in their bunkers so they don't piddle on themselves.
