Tunkashila, Grandfather......Thank you for bringing me to this sacred circle and giving me the oppurtunity and time to sit and listen....thank you for the teaching and guidance of ptsum who opened this circle to me and to others who are seeking respite and guidance and comforting....
Grandfather, thank you for the many blessings that you have provided to me as I travel around the circles of my life....tonight I am especially mindful of the influence of my parents who were with me in the East at the beginning and who sheltered and loved me and showed me the way..... I am mindful of the lessons of the South where I had a safe space to grow and learn and acquire skills, the benefit of abundance....and Tunkashila...I thank you for the lessons of the dark....the West....for those times which were hard....scarey and lonely...and also the times of trial.
I am grateful for my parents.....but also for all parents around the world who sacrifice and protect and guide their children....thank you for parents and for children.
Tunkashila....I thank you for the knowledge that life is indeed a circle and contains all I need.....more than I need to walk the red path. Tunkashila....help me to be all I need to be......help me to remember Mitakuye-oyasin that indeed we are all related.....that the earth is our mother....and our kinship includes all her creatures, and the air, the waters, the land and all the plants and trees. Let me fully appreciate my place in your creation and do no harm....
Tunkashila.....I ask you to be present to those who come to sit in the circle....help them meet their needs and carry the burdens that they struggle with. I ask especially that you comfort the sick and embolden the frightened and lift up the down trodden. Thank you Tunkashila.
