The worst thing about being a camgirl for a living is not having every crevice be examined by perverted men jacking off and drooling creepily, but rather, the toll it takes on one's sex life. Ladies, you will become loose. Very loose. Unless of course, you refuse to use toys, in which case, good luck getting customers if you're not willing to stick crap inside yourself.
And you think little tissy things at the office is bad? How about shoving a stick up yourself for hours a day? It gets old fast. The same thing, over and over: strip, shove things up self, dude comes. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. After doing this awhile, it gets old. And do you think after 2 or 3 hours of that you're going to want to have sex with your real boyfriend? Probably not. Well at least in my experience, I was in no mood for sex after 'work'.
And then, you'll just feel gross afterwards.
And then, there are a LOT of men who are pedophiles. I've been asked to pretend that I'm 12 or around that age many times in my short time as a camgirl. As I'm sure you can imagine, that lowered my general opinion of men and humanity a bit.
I've given it a lot of thought and have come to the conclusion that working a job that allows me to use my knowledge and intelligence for ends more meaningful and positive for society, even if it pays less, is worth it. At least with a career-oriented job like that, if you keep at it your income will rise as you gain experience and skill in the field, unlike camming/sex work, in which you lose a lot of money and interested customers, the older you get.
I always find it interesting when people compare something as disgusting as being a cam girl with high-end escorts and sugar babies. Same thing when people compare these to high-volume street hookers and forced prostitution. These are different worlds completely.
Name one. A popular one. Ok, there's shoving a stick down your throat, right.
if you actually need me to name a fetish for you that doesn't require you to be naked and ****ing yourself, then clearly you did no research going into this industry and I'm not trying to be insulting by saying that.
Sit on balloons till they pop ... saw that one on United States of Tara. Iron topless ... that was Shameless. I think there are probably men who would pay to watch you dress up like Sailor Moon and eat pancakes, djohanna.
of course most of them will answer no, that's not surprising. the same ones claiming 'no' are the same ones that put very attactive women on a pedestal and will put up with most of the treatment they dish out. Because as I said before, men have a 'grateful' attitude towards attractive women.
Bolded is very true... but few women know how to properly leverage that...
Sugar babies, cam girls, escorts, strippers, etc... can be dirty work and often limited to a small customer base (unless you are also an owner and get a profit cut). They often place their careers/futures on their taut 20 y.o. bodies, without a consideration of the long-term game.
Those are jobs with relatively low barriers-to-entry (similar to retail, cocktail waitressing), and many young women with low inhibition can secure these positions which drives down the prices. Maybe some will use the money to invest in something else, others will waste away their power-building years overly-invested in a diminishing return - their own bodies (rather than other career power building experiences).
The most powerful women IMO are those who know how to leverage their intelligence, education, femininity, sexuality, attractiveness, and connections into big money (often in predominately male fields like finance, business, engineering, etc.), without ever having to take their clothes off or be controlled by a broker. Their power often grows as they age, not diminishes.
Then, when their youthfulness and looks subside, they still have the power, wealth and connections that they have built... They have the history and experience, which is still attractive to many and provides options and independence.
Many women miss the boat on this one. When they were younger, they did not know how to properly utilize being "placed on a pedestal" beyond going for the very obvious sexual sale. Or, they are highly intelligent but completely obscure their feminine/sexual power in order to try to act as a man, even though they are not one so can't portray one as well.
They never properly utilized their biggest asset - being put on a pedestal for their feminine sexual power. Then, when they are older, they may be off the pedestal. However, the woman who has obtained power smartly, may still be on it.
If I ever desperately needed a job as a camgirl, I might try to tap the agalmatophilia or abasiophilia market.... I would borrow a wheelchair and just sit totally still in it. Maybe I could even watch a movie in the background or sip on a Slushy? Wait, would I have to be completely naked in the wheelchair? I know, handicap jokes are NOT politically correct. Maybe, if completely desperate, I could just dress up like a stuffed animal or newborn baby in a crib for webcam, and just watch TV or study a book off-camera. That seems relatively painless.

what about when the successful woman in her highly demanding career wants a family? Here's an article that talks all about women who become burnt out in those male predominant fields:
"Young professional women may not relate to the financial struggles their Millennial peers are protesting against during the Occupy New York movement. After all, these ambitious go-getters are working as doctors, lawyers, engineers, and advertising executives, blessed with great salaries, health benefits, and paid vacation.
But these women understand the protestors’ frustration and unhappiness over the fact that their lives aren’t supposed to turn out this way. This is why a growing number of young professional women who seem to “have it all” are burning out at work before they reach 30."
you have to be smart to milk the adult industry, I know a woman who is in her forties who has used the money from camming and her online business to invest in several properties and is still working in the industry. Another who makes six figures a year off of filming fetish clips. But like I said not everyone is this business savvy, and may like you said let their best years go to waste.

Are you arguing that a woman who wants a family could better balance it by working in the adult industry vs. fields like medical, engineering, law, etc..?
Of course you can make money in the adult industry, especially if you invest wisely and have ownership. But someone with business savvy can make just as much money in other fields with maybe less risk and more long-term skill appreciation (e.g. who makes more, an aging sex worker or an aging estate lawyer?). Being an engineer/DR/lawyer/sex site owner likely gives you more years of six figure salaries, than being simply an aging sex worker.
