If all these businesses open, we'll need to lynch the planners who approved it.
After the fight against a Sheetz in another N Raleigh area earlier this year (which Sheetz lost) perhaps the powers that be wanted as little fanfare as possible. Was there ever any public discussion regarding the planning of this messy intersection?
looks like they are getting ready to bury large tanks, I would assume gasoline, at the construction site at Dixie Forest/Atlantic Ave. If that is a Sheetz why haven't they posted signs acknowledging such ? Strange since they already have 'hiring now signs' at the Millbrook/Green Rd site which isn't even as far along.
I was just about to post this. I notice those big tanks lined up today as well. Definitely a Sheetz!
Well on the positive side, they do make a good cup of coffee and drive down gas prices.
Yes.....I don't drink coffee, but am looking forward to this Sheetz store opening so I don't have to go all the way to BJ's for cheap gas. Was planning on dropping my BJ's membership after it expires anyway, so this just makes it a no brainer. It will be interesting to see if the other gas stations in that area start a price war to compete with Sheetz, however Sheetz doesn't always have the cheapest gas prices.
I am not happy @ all. Plus when the BP or whatever that gas station inevitably closes immediately across Atlantic from the soon to be open sheetz what will become of that property? Will it just fall into disrepair. What a mess this will be. And yes Sheetz gas is hit or miss on cheapness.
On a another note, the building is coming along at Capital & Spring Forest. I see the north side of the building has a drive-thru? Possibly a Starbucks on that side?

Are you talking about the old Mobile location? I also am confused why they would leave up the sign if this is not going to be another gas station. I've never heard of a combined Starbucks/gas station.

They leave the sign because it allows them to skip getting a new sign permit. The sign location, size etc. is already approved by the city, so all they have to do when the time comes is swap out what is on the sign, which requires no permit. Taking the whole thing down would require a new study by the city, etc, etc. to put one up. They probably also don't want to make it know what is going there quite yet or don't have the new signage in, so removing the gas station signage on the sign would expose the electrical parts inside to the elements.
