The proper role of this government is to take care of its people - not go nation building.
Can you point out where the founders believed it was the governments responsibility to "take care of the people" as you seem to place it in context? I would be highly interested in this.
And I don't need a copy of the Constitution, thank you. It is somewhat ironic, however, PGH, that you are telling me to read the Constitution when the person you've supported called it a G-D piece of paper. And I mean Bush.
Nice try but thats been proven to be a lie. But sit here and repeat it if it makes you feel good..

Gosh, there is that thing in the Declaration of Independence called the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A right to life means to continue living. Universal Health Care supports living for ALL people.
Do you have insurance? If so, you are lucky when you get that bill. Others would not be so fortunate. I want the playing field leveled.
No, hence the reason for, when I get the bill, it will be paid. Again, universal health care already exists in this country. Everyone gets medical care regardless as to ability to pay at a hospital. I've had 2 hand surgeries, a surgery on my esophagus (sp) and another hand surgery planned next month, total cost out of pocket so far $75.00. I have no doubt that the total bills will reach $20K or more, luckily I can pay it, but if I couldnt, the care is provided anyways..

Oh really. You say you have no insurance and the bill gets paid? LOL, you really want to pay $20K? That's not real smart.

Um, no, it says you have a right to life, it does not say quality of life, in fact, it says you can pursue happiness, it does not say they will guarantee it..

I'll either pay it in higher taxes for medical care, or I'll write a check to pay the bil.. My "want" is not the point. I dont want to buy a new car, or pay my gas bill to heat my home, or cook. Heck, I'd LOVE to have free medical, but I am smart enough to know its not free.
You want higher taxes for america? Lets talk about who's not "real smart"...
