If his daughters had to go into battle, and be maimed or die for his mad schemes he might think twice about it.
But Putin doesn't have to worry about that now, does he?
He can be an autocratic monster, declaring war all completely on his own volition and sending thousands to their deaths, and he never has to worry about his own children suffering. No tears on the cheeks of that madman.
To be fair, that describes the leaders of every country. U.S. has sent plenty of people to their deaths while the people whom made the decisions suffer no harm. Personally I wish we could go back to the days in which leaders were on the battlefield. The days in which if you made the decision to go war and it failed, you would be hanged. I call it skin in the game.

I don't disagree with you here, but Putin is in a class by himself.
He was able to launch an entire nation to war with no checks or balances, essentially in secret! No debates, no speeches or rallies ... no consensus needed. He can decide all on his own to start a war that costs his own people thousands of casualties. He didn't even have to lie to the Duma, they had no say in the matter!
I don't know of any other modern nation where one person could launch a war like that.
The price of oil is at $93 today. That means Russia must sell oil at 50-$60.
As was noted in the above video, gas is getting hard for Russia to sell, since they cut off, or cut back, sales to Europe.
Btw here was illtaketwo's view when USA announced that Russia was going to invade Ukraine:
Quote:
this is for the US to distract the masses and create an excuse for a monetary system meltdown. follow the money.
Heh.
This is exactly why the US and NATO provoked Russia to invade Ukraine. They reneged on the Minsk Agreement for a reason. This is how every war & conflict (all started by Democrats) began - through provocation or false flag events to try and bail out or stabilize our monetary system. This time it's beyond repair and has to be reset, with the US losing reserve currency status. Russia is the scapegoat for Biden & NATO - and most of the world knows it.
Don't think the world will be so lucky. He's got an amoral brainwashed cabal around him. Not suicidal, but with him up to that point.
Putin already declared his purge of the unfaithful shortly after the war started (mar 16 speech). He has divided Russian society into the clean and unclean.
He is echoing Stalin, with a message that all Russians understand.

The US is no better with our divisive labels on everyone.

Russia invaded a neighboring independent country because they weren't making the political choices that Russia preferred. Now, just as with Crimea, the playing victim is supposed to end up with Russia suddenly having more land, population, and resources at the expense of Ukraine and its people. What a fortuitous thing this "feeling threatened" routine is for Russia! Nobody has invaded Russia since 1941, yet their dictator is always running the dictator playbook of drumming up new reasons why they must attack others who threaten them.
