How about we stop the drug war that is fueling the gang violence driving these children to leave Central America. Also make it so punitive to hire illegal labor that no one will do it. Nevermind that illegal immigration is now about net-zero, but then who will water the lawns of wealthy Texans?
I believe that is truly the key to ending illegal immigration, mandatory jail time for those who hire undocumented workers.

3. And how many of them are at the border at one time? Many are now dealing with other things other than standing guard at the border. And while we may have more, it is still not enough. We need a fence/wall and it needs to extend across as much of the border as possible.

Speaking of these countries, we still are not and have not done enough to hammer it home that we will not accept this anymore. And if reports on Mexico aiding these people to go through their country are true, we need to send a strong message to them that it wont be tolerated. The Government has known for a long time that this was coming. They did nothing to try and curb it or stop it. Now they say they're overwhelmed and need $4 billion. It doesnt take $4 billion to pack up some kids and fly them home. Not even half of that.
I care! I and many others around here want meaningful discussion. Sure we wander on the threads but to post a thread that from the git go has photos represented of something they are not is wrong. We: meaning all posters at CD shouldn't have to put up with it.

Their job is not to keep them in Mexico. It is to keep them out of the US unless they are legally admitted. There is a difference. When people from countries south of Mexico surrender to the border patrol or are apprehended while crossing the Rio Grande, it is the law that the border patrol take them into custody pending a deportation hearing. What do you propose? Unless the law is changed to allow/require the BP to refuse them entry and immediately deport without a hearing, then the problem goes on. If the law were changed, the courts would likely toss it out as a violation of the equal protection clause - denial of due process.

Once more, the way to fix this is to crack down on employers who hire them - for real this time. No demand means no supply. It is that simple.

You forgot all the whining about how much it cost us for that photo-op.

First let me say, I'm very conservative, but not Republican....
What is Cruz and all the right wing politicians doing about this boarder epidemic? Nothing but hammering the President...is the President wrong, YES, he absolutely is, but this has been going on now for over what, 20 years, what other President did anything about this? Did Bush? No!
I'm gosh darn sick and tired of all this verbal beating up of the opposite team for not doing anything, when the opposing team did nothing either...when is this all going to stop, and someone does something about this?????

And if a republican President were in the White House right now, would he be doing anything different, no, Bush didn't, and he was being asked to stop this illegal immigration!

This is how terrorists get into our nation, and there will be another terrorist attack, and we've been warned it's going to be even worse then 911 by the terrorists....yet, everyone ignores that fact?

What the heck is going on here, and Cruz, there was a time when I'd vote for him, but all he is doing is playing dirty politics....proving, all of them are corrupt...and that photo of Obama, playing pool, could have been taken years ago...who the heck does he think he is trying to fool.

Do I approve of Obama's tactics, no, but what in the world is it going to change by Obama going to the boarder? Nothing has changed up until now?

There is ZERO interest from the monied interest in the border states to do what it would really take to stop illegal immigration. That would include heavy fines and jail time for them because they are the ones hiring illegals to work the fields, care for their children and build the houses that are fueling the local economy. They are hypocrites that use buzzwords like "invasion" to get the base riled up and generate votes. Rick Perry, Ted Cruz and even Jan Brewer can spout off all they want, but they have done nothing to stop the reason illegals come here in the first place.

It's also "The Law" that those that enter the USA without the proper Immigration papers will be deported -- Team Obama doesn't enforce that "Law". The Sex Trafficking Law excluded Mexico & Canada because it was never intended to be an open ended "Asylum" law on our Border ..... Obama is interpreting it that way by choice. These illegal aliens are flooding across our Border with Mexico because of Obama's DACA Executive Order - they have been told that if they get into the USA, Obama will allow them Amnesty. That's exactly what he is doing. More will come, many more will come. 47,000 came in May, another 46,000 in June .... how many more thousand this month?

Community Organizing groups are getting RICH off of this invasion. This is one of the "organizations" that is contracting for facilities around the country. Michigan is a target for them right now.

yeah, I'll tell you what Mr. Mon, I'm starting to believe you...and the henious crime in the whole thing is the crime of breaking the law, and the seriousness of terrorists coming into this country and are already here...setting up for their next attack....and Ted Cruz is cracking jokes mocking the President, when this was going on under Bush's watch and all the other President's before him....Why can't the American public see this and stop backing corrupt politics?

But Obama has plenty blame here. This was no surprise visit by all these illegals. Theyve known for a long time this was coming. And the only thing they did to "prepare" for it was put bids out to transport these 65,000 minors. Where was the effort to stop it or slow it down? Where was the warnings to these other countries and Mexico that we will not put up with this so turn these people back? We did nothing, said nothing until it was already too late acting as if we were caught of guard when that is complete nonsense.
"Congress (the establishment) has done nothing to deal with the border."

This also goes to burdell, "Constructive Ideas? Nada, Zilch, Nil, None, Zero".

Really?

"Secure Fence Act of 2006
"On October 26, 2006, U.S. President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (Pub.L. 109–367) into law stating, “This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform."[1] The bill was introduced on Sep. 13, 2006 by Peter T. King (R-NY). In the House of Representatives, the Fence Act passed 283 -138 on September 14, 2006. On September 29, 2006 – the Fence Act passed in the Senate 80 -19.
The Secure Fence Act of 2006’s goal is to help secure America’s borders to decrease illegal entry, drug trafficking, and security threats by building 700 miles (1,100 km) of physical barriers along the Mexico-United States border. Additionally, the law authorizes more vehicle barriers, checkpoints, and lighting as well as authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to increase the use of advanced technology like cameras, satellites, and unmanned aerial vehicles to reinforce infrastructure at the border.[1] Congress approved $1.2 billion in a separate homeland security spending bill to bankroll the fence."

"Since construction of the wall began “apprehensions, a rough proxy for measuring illegal crossings, were down 18% at the southern border in 2008 and Border Patrol attributes some of that to the fence. But a report in May 2009 by the Congressional Research Service found "strong indication" that illegal crossers had simply found new routes." (In other words, the fence is working.)

"
On January 23, 2008 the 110th Congress introduced Reinstatement of the Secure Fence Act of 2008 (H.R. 5124). This bill called for Homeland Security to construct an additional 700 miles of two layered, 14 foot high fencing along the southwest border.[4] The bill died in committee and was never voted upon.[4] By April 2009 Homeland Security had erected about 613 miles of new pedestrian fencing and vehicle barriers along the southwest border from California to Texas.[5]
In May 2010, Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) unsuccessfully reintroduced for the second time his “Finish the Fence” amendment which would require Homeland Security to construct an additional 353 miles (568 km) of fencing along the US-Mexico border.[6]"

And who controlled 110th Congress on Jan 23rd?
"The One Hundred Tenth United States Congress was the meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, between January 3, 2007, and January 3, 2009, during the last two years of the second term of President George W. Bush. It was composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The apportionment of seats in the House was based on the 2000 U.S. census.
The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995
