I don't care how the rich came about their wealth. I just think they should pay higher taxes and there should be methods instituted that lower inequality.
Why don't multimillionaires and billionaires do charity work for the middle class? Do things like pay off school loans for them, get them out of credit card debt or just throw 100 grand at the struggling middle class families here and there. Really boost the economy!
Yes, they can accomplish a lot more if the money is not filtered through the government first.
Walmart's profit margin is in the grocery store range - about 4-5%. Not much room to work with. But I guess they could just raise prices.
Maybe Apple, whose profit margin is in the range of 35%, could just hire more people, huh?
Wal-mart has been diversifying and globalizing for sometime. They also already spend vastly more on selling and admin than Apple. The past several years notice all the multi-billion dollar buybacks as well. Revenue amts are about double Apple.
This is a tough call for me. While I think that income inequality at this extent is bad for the economy, I'm not sure redistribution is the best solution, especially if it comes from the government increasing taxes on the rich so that they can increase subsidies for the poor.
It seems that people with a poor mans mindset leans left. The poorer the mindset the further left they lean with the exception of the liberal elite who are majorly benefitting from increasing the number of poor people. It seems that people with a rich mans mindset tend to lean right because they understand how money works.
The left encourages the poor mans mindset and is making more poor.
Meanwhile they both laugh all the way to the bank. Politics is mostly theater.
