Income inequality is bad for the nation. Of the gains made by the top 10%, almost all of it went to the top 1% and a third of the income gains of the top 1% went to the top 0.01%.

Buffett's gross income in 2011 was about $63M and his taxable income was about $40M. Tax the hell of out of him and that money doesn't go far when sent to the US treasury. Raise his rates by 50% and it amounts to almost nothing.

What we're talking about is the tax rate.

I have no sympathy for you if you can't afford to live on what you make.

Why are others who are in your income bracket willing to pay their fair share but you are not? Do you believe your tax burden should be less?
This has nothing to do with what I can afford. I want to get more out of life than only 'what I can afford'. I am saying if someone in the upper classes wants to pay more in taxes, they can easily do so under current law. There is no need to force their social beliefs on other people.

I already pay more than my fair share. I pay significantly more than what my fair share would be if tax rates were tied to public resources consumed. The lowest tax bracket has a negative effective tax rate. Do you think that is a fair share?

Yes.

Seeing that you don't clean your facility, cook all your meals, maintain your own roads, build your housing, etc etc etc.

In all honesty, what does your income has to do with your worth to society.

Lets see... I pay more in taxes. Others only take out. If you had to get rid of one which do you think the government, even Obama will choose? Obama always says he needs more money. Who do you think has more value.

First, what I read is Obama's detractors calling names (Socialist, Communist, Marxist, etc.)
Second, I'll let Bill Gates Senior answer you:

Quote:
Suppose you were given the choice of being born in America or in Ethiopia. What proportion of your eventual fortune would you be willing to give to be born in America? Given the great good fortune of getting to live and run a business in this country that has all the advantages an advanced country with a decent system provides, how can you think it’s all you? And then, how can you feel you don’t have any obligation to pay it back?

How arrogant of anyone to believe they don't need other members of society in our current culture.
