The private sector in some states are fracking for gas. I have family who have leased some mountains to the gas escavators to frack in PA... the private sector has taken off with jobs in some states that have natural resources discovered by new technology. And guess what.. the IRS are giving them a hard time and want all kind of questions answered.. Obama may indirectly go after all those people involved in the private sector fracking.. I wouldn't put anything past this administration.

We can't call that an accomplishment.

My daughter has some friends whose full time hours have been put down to 26 and the other 28 hours After being full time for years now. Don't think it can't happen to you, they thought the same thing.

That is not good, and her friends are freaking the hell out.

I personally do not feel that those who worked full time employment for years, and now part time, is a step in the right direction, no matter how this lowlife scumbag administration cut it.

They still have the same mortgage, the same bills, the same gas bills, cloghting to buy, food to buy, but now the diference, part time, why is that!

They are pissed the hell off. Full time for years, and just like that? now part time. One is freaking out she is married yes, and just had a baby. She is now a couple months old.

Huh? I claimed that a increase in PT jobs would drop the UE rate I never said anything about a PT job equaling being unemployed.

Another 250,000 people have left the work force and are no longer counted as being unemployed.
9,000,000 jobs have disappeared in the last 4.5 years.
The labor participation rate is the lowest its been in 40 years.

76.7% of new 2013 jobs are part time. Somehow I doubt the admin's commercials will be announcing that inconvenient truth.

The PBS Business Guy says it's because of baby boomer retirement. That's right, Pee Bee Ess.

"The simple story of the July unemployment numbers, released Friday, is that the population grew by about 200,000 people and new jobs absorbed just about all of them. Why did the unemployment rate go down -- from 7.6 percent to 7.4 percent? Because the official "workforce" actually declined -- by about 40,000 people. What could explain the drop, given the rise in population? "Ten thousand baby boomers turn 65 today" has become a demographic cliché (or meme, if you prefer). Barring a mass and age-selective plague, that means that 10,000 or so are also turning 66, their official Social Security retirement age. Many, if not most, baby boomers are retiring. And since 10,000 a day equals 300,000 a month, if two-thirds of them are hanging up their rock 'n' roll work shoes, Friday's numbers would make sense: 200,000 or so retirees offsetting the 200,000 or so new working-age Americans."

"...new workers are entering the labor force at lower wages while higher-paid baby boomers retire."
