It's just a dollar.
So they turn to the black market and end up paying a higher price. If people want something bad enough, they'll pay for it.

Sounds like a win-win to me and it will keep the welfare system more honest. Now, if we could apply that same policy in regards to alcohol, cable TV, Internet, etc....
The relative can keep the winnings, knowing they cannot be taken to court!

They're not paying the tax. The people who bought lottery tickets are and I think we need a study to find out how many people on welfare buy lottery tickets to find out what percentage of the 47% that actually pay more than they get back in taxes fund all that before we continue to fund the lie that is a lottery...

They're going to buy lottery tickets, cable TV and Internet on the black market?

What?

I played two tickets...4 bucks. Hardley out of the reach of most Ameircans.
That's $416 a year or $26,000 over a 40 year period with a very low interest rate of 2%.

$8 a week...

You'd be better off investing instead of gambling.

1:175,000,000 chance.

Sorry but I have to laugh. Hopefully you're not one of those people complaining about the "evil" rich people who "steal" your money...

But hey! They're all for individual rights.
So you want the poor people to have the right to play in a game that has the odds of 1:175,000,000?

I'm willing to bet you didn't do too well in math...

So sorry. Next time don't lie to the people you're leeching off of about your dire straits.

THIS doesn't even make sense - distribute 100% of the winnings so that, what, they will then have to remain on welfare? Ok, sure.

All of the complainers on here just need someone to put all the blame on. If poverty was eradicated in this country, well then I guess you'd still have immigrants and young people to blame for all the problems of the country.

If you see welfare fraud - REPORT IT. Just know that the rest of us poor folks - yes, me included - are quietly living our lives getting by and working toward a better future.
