Sounds like a win-win to me and it will keep the welfare system more honest. Now, if we could apply that same policy in regards to alcohol, cable TV, Internet, etc....

Overall, what I see on this thread is just detest for the lower class by people who probably aren't far off from being in that class.
Maybe you've never heard of the term "A penny spar'd is twice got."

That's a term that would lift those people out of the poverty they're in. However, we have a group of people in this country that try to rationalize irrational behavior and in doing so are implicit in the fraud foisted upon the American people know as 'welfare' in today's terms.

It's Sunday...go to church or something. SMH..

but I bet they are buying way more than one ticket.. just saying..

My Filipina girlfriend told me that the typical average "poor American" would be considered middle class by Filipino standards.

So sorry. Next time don't lie to the people you're leeching off of about your dire straits.
Exactly. If you are on public assistance and win the lottery, you must pay back ALL monies/goods received, for however long you were/are on public assistance, with a 35% tax penalty BACKDATED. Then, an additional 30% taken off the top, to assist, "others who were in your situation." And, of course, be automatically removed now and FOREVER receiving ANY public assistance in the future.

The poor shouldn't have rights. The gays shouldn't have rights. Women shouldn't have rights.
But hey! They're all for individual rights.

Poverty is too comfortable in the United States, when people on public assistance have money to purchase lottery tickets.

Is there really true poverty in the United States? Most people in poverty, on SSI, public assistance, have cell phones, Internet, cable, these are hardly items that are necessary for activities of daily living.
do you know how much lottery tickets cost? Mega lotto is 2 bucks. How many people in America dont have 2 bucks in their pocket?

I played two tickets...4 bucks. Hardley out of the reach of most Ameircans.

It's systemic. Food stamps: free food. Section 8: reduced housing. Obamaphones: $1.

It's a culmination of everything, so I can see why they have plenty left for lotto tickets.

That one chick had to pay back her welfare/food stamp benefits when she won.

The tax they will pay will be way more than what ever benefits they got.
