It's a daunting task. How on earth do you get a Wall St. crook to settle for a 48 ft yacht instead of a 120' feedship, they'll be kicking and screaming all the way to the clubhouse.
You can't wean them off. -- And the economy isn't going to recover with 70% of Americans on government assistance.
Also it's not just Americans living off welfare handouts, there are millions of illegals here doing that also, and more coming.
MOST of the people that are on public assistance that were employed WANT TO WORK!
There is no way that public assistance is every going to match the pay of a good paying job.
The entire premise of the thread is much ado about nothing and shows a remarkable lack of understading and compassion for what many Americans are experiencing these days.

I don't know how much they want the unemployed Americans want to work - I saw the job fair lines in Georgia on the news the other day and it did seem to me that those people really want to work.
But you can thank the politicians. It's not all about cheap foreign labor - foreign labor that is doing so very well that it can send many billions of dollars out of the country. Billions of dollars - forever gone from the USA economy.
By the time our economy recovers, 70% of all Americans will be hooked on some sort of government assistance, as I see it.
How will they be weaned off?
