More Than 3,500 Michigan Lottery Winners Are Benefitting From Welfare: Government Report

Poverty is too comfortable in the United States, when people on public assistance have money to purchase lottery tickets.

Is there really true poverty in the United States? Most people in poverty, on SSI, public assistance, have cell phones, Internet, cable, these are hardly items that are necessary for activities of daily living.

There is no true poverty in the USA.

Not with all the free Obamaphones and the fact that welfare recipients can play the lottery more consistently than anyone else proves that they're living way too high on the hog.

Those on any form of public assistance should be ineligible to cash in any winning lottery ticket at any state office. Can't stop them from wasting money on $10 winners on scratch offs, but at least the lure of the big winner would be eliminated.

Why should they be ineligible to get the winnings simply because they're on public assistance? How about taking them off public assistance if they win a huge amount?

Powerball tix are 2 bucks.

First you're mad about them buying Filet Mignon, and driving Ferraris that all of you claim to have seen somewhere.

Now it's a 2 dollar lotto ticket raising your blood pressure.

It's Sunday...go to church or something. SMH..

So since you view that as unnecessary, money they can waste, we can take the 50 million on some form of assistance, cut $1 per week from every form of assistance, and volla.we just cut the budget $2.6 billion annually.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Because the publicity would get the next clown on the dole to stop wasting money on the lottery, when they are spending other folks' money.

Is the conservative case so weak that one has to lie about Obamaphones? The program was started by Reagan and expanded to cell phones by Bush -- and they aren't free. They are reduced price.

On the issue of those on public assistance playing lotto, you don't think such a person can find a dollar to play? Or, are you saying that the government should be so intrusive as to stick their nose in every recipient's lives?

So you steal a dollar from me and play the lottery, win it big and then ask why should any of that money be mine when it was your choice to buy the lottery ticket (with stolen money)...

OMG, WTF, GTFOOT, YHGTBSM, HFDAYP, FYAYN, YAADPOS, DHWDCYFPOS...

Have a nice day...
