Democrats once made political donations tax-deductible. Republicans, who wanted Big Money to own politics, took away that deduction. But THEN they created phony charities in order to sneak it back in. NOW they are SCANDALIZED that the IRS is trying to crack down. Is this like Monicagate? "It isn't the sex, it is the lying"? If the IRS mounted a big effort to disqualify ALL these phony front groups, would the GOP be loudly crying foul? Or do they really just object when far right political fronts are scrutinized? And is there anyone with a keyboard or microphone who will raise this question?
Having the criminal DOJ investigate the criminal IRS is a pointless exercise. They will find only token wrongdoing and punish some low or mid level functionary. An independent investigation has to be conducted on the IRS and DOJ. The DHS needs it too.
Not sure if it has been brought up, but driving home from work I switched in between NPR and the Sean Hannity show. A lady called in and said that the last time she went to Jamaica, the Jamaican customs told her that her government (USA) wanted her to get extra scrutiny - she got searched 5 times - and she couldn't figure out why...thought maybe it was because she had family in the military.
Now she believes it was because her missionary had the word "Patriot" in it.
