It's obvious that under this President, the IRS has gotten smarter. They recognize that Republicans are the biggest tax cheats, and they are going after them. They are good. In other words, "sorry Republicans that we have to go after you, but you are overwhelmingly the biggest tax cheats in the history of mankind."
One needs to wait for details but I don't see any violation of any statute. At the most, they violated policy and can be internally disciplined. But it is also possible, that after a review of the data, that the overwhelming number of new 501c4 applications were Tea Party groups and that's why the query resulted in so many being snared.

Kudos to the IRS.
There are more tax cheats in the administration than this targeting effort caught.

I didn't know that Tim Geithner and Charles Wrangle are Republicans. By the way it was Bill Clinton who pardoned Marc Rich, the biggest tax cheat in US history. Do you ever get tired of being wrong Lexus?
Yes, but those of us who are among the most enlightened in this country (anti-Conservatives) can read between the lines. Conservatives, with their lousy judgment and instincts, are largely using every imaginable means to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Under a village idiot like Bush, the IRS was dumber and acquiesced. Under this intelligent President who stands for all that is high and noble, the IRS is smarter and more focused. Sure the IRS admitted "fault", but they are in the right. They shed some light on you tax-cheating Pubs, and now you're squealing and whining. Your party continues to flail away desperately trying to be relevant, while bleeding to death. Kudos to the IRS.
Hope you get better.
Cue predictable liberal smug arrogance. You comments look like a clear effort to troll. They ignore the fact that Dem leadership has also condemned the actions of the IRS, up to and including POTUS. Following your assertion that Presisent Obama is high, noble and intelligent, then who is wrong in this case? You, or the president?
