Isn't it also racist to sing, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas?
Well, having almost got stuck on the day at my friends house since the tires got frozen to the driveway and we didn't know if they could be freed up in 09, the year of the HUGE blizard the midwest sent us on the night before, I could do without a *white* one forever.
Do you still say Merry Christmas in person, cards, etc?
I do but am feeling increasingly pressured not to do so. I'm sad about that. It's called "Christmas", but my wife didn't dare use "that" word in the 100s of "Holiday Cards" we just sent to past and current clients, friends and family. Only very close family get a "Christmas card" anymore.
She has a point. Why risk offending someone? But still. Seems like the new avatar for the season ought to be egg shells and tip toes. The spirit is different.

One of the many reason I like working in the Trucking Industry is that PC crap doesn't exist for the most part! LOL! Not only do we say Merry Christmas, but most of our customers send us VERY Christian Christmas cards! Even as a non-Christian, I love it! LOL! I am neither disrespected by them saying Merry Christmas, nor am I offended by it!

I think someone has been watching too much Bill O'Reiley/Faux News....LOL
What pressure is there to stop celebrating Christmas? I'm just curious because it sure looks and sounds like Christmas here in Albuquerque.
It really depends on your location and the business you're in. Mostly retailers are increasingly pressured to use a "generic" term for the holidays because of the PC bully's.
Unfortunately most people are not like you and don't see "Merry Christmas" as a friendly sentiment. There are a lot of people, I think mainly in the REALLY large cities (i.e. LA, NYC, etc.) that not only get upset if a store/almost anyone wishes them a Merry Christmas, but they will go out of their way to be rude about it.
As a person of an EXTREME minority religion, they do not speak for me! I LOVE Christmas and love saying and being said to "Merry Christmas". I would be very very sad if people stopped saying it all together. So I go out of my way to say it at all the stores I go to. hehe, just my little PC rebellion!

...
That was basically my point. In the real estate business we're trained to be so hyper-sensitive and "neutral" about anything that even might be offensive to anyone. It is a form of pressure, feeling like you can't just be yourself and say what you'd normally say.
I've been in business 20+ years. We use to buy batches of "Christmas Cards" and send them to clients each year. Never had any complaints or felt like we had to be careful to buy only "certain" types of cards that were absent the word "Christmas". But now that's exactly what we do except for close friends and family.
A lot of people in my industry have abandoned the annual Christmas mailings and instead do it Valentines or July 4th. I thought valentines was for romance, but I guess more and more it's just a generic day to express "Likes" for those who don't feel like trying to "be proper" and "non offensive" during Christmas.
No biggie really. I guess I was just feeling irritated when I made the post and can see how some may view it as being whiny.
Merry Christmas.

No, because my birthday is personal to me and not a common day of celebration enjoyed by everyone.
On New Year's Day we all say "Happy New Year".
In Feb, we say "Happy Valentine's Day".
On Easter, people say "Happy Easter".
On Mother's Day, it's "Mother's Day" for Moms.
Memorial Day is "Memorial Day Weekend", not just the Monday.
Father's Day is for all Dads.
Independence Day is "4th of July" and celebrated even by non-citizens in many ways.
Halloween is "Halloween".
Thanksgiving is called, ... "Thanksgiving". Not "Feast Day", or something generic.
It's not until we get to Christmas that people act weird about the syntax or label used to express the Day or Season.
Do anti-Christmas people refuse the days off and insist on going in to work for regular pay? Are gitfs refused? Acts of kindness? Expressions of good wishes and well being? All nulled if the "C" word is used?
It's not a religious thing for me, it's just an annoyance over the hyper sensitivity of people.

At Christmas time yes. Merry Christmas and Tidings of Comfort and Joy!
