Default Black publishers trade group acknowledges Obama wasn't born in the U.S.

The Northeast Publishers Association (NEPA) has prepared an ad to go in black newspapers across the country. Walter Smith, a director, sent out the ad to his email list with a note saying, in part, “We can educate our readership by either running this ad or making a similar statement in our newspapers.”
The ad acknowledges that Barack Obama was not born in the United States, but misquotes the actual citizenship law in effect at the time. Obama's mother would have needed to have lived in the U.S. for 5 years after her 14th birthday in order to pass her U.S. citizenship on to Obama. Since she was 18 when Obama was born, she doesn't meet the 5 year requirement.

Citizenship law at the time of Obama's birth:
Quote:
"For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child."

Does that claim gain any substance just because some black people are jumping on the bandwagon now?

Many liberals think that if minorities are for something, then it has some legitimacy to it
