Also, not sure regarding your religious background, but presuming you are Christian, the Old and New Testaments are chock full of the message that a morally righteous person gives freely to the needy.

LOL Jesus would be cast aside from the current "moral majority" / Republican party and labeled as a "snowflake"/socialist/communist/hippie.

Who said anything about not helping those in need? Folks that are mentally and physically unable to work deserve help. The rest need to contribute to society.

There was a time when police moved them along. Now they are privileged to do as they please. ****ting on the sidewalk, camping illegally, blocking sidewalks, entering private property and begging there and more. It is garbage now. That is fine you like to be hassled in the city on every corner, but I will just not go. I am not alone. You think you can survive without my money? Maybe you can, but I'll bet many can't.

Covid made things great for the losers that leach off working people. At some point, they need to work too. All creatures work to provide for at least themselves. If not, prisons are a good choice. That way working people can work and live well enough. The losers can get 3 squares a day behind bars. Taxpayers still pay for them, but they don't bother us.

the Lord helps those who help themselves.

its one thing to help out a destitute person in 30AD....in 2021, we have computers, social security, goodwill, food pantries....

....and a very generous spirit in this country.

so take the preaching and stick it...if someone is THAT needy, chances are they are 'working the system' (begging/panhandling, etc.), or just not motivated.

you think i dont want to say "f* it" every morning and just quit and enjoy day time strolling around the hood? sheet....

We sure give till it hurts in this country. Sadly there are one heck of a lot of losers taking full advantage of us. They are living like kings with their EBT cards eating shrimp and steak and $1,000 smartphones. Not to mention 100's of channels on cable and fancy cars. All that without doing anything to contribute, but they will never have any self pride. Seems the left likes to keep a large portion of the public in that state. They give them enough to be happy enough for their votes. I am sure most don't vote though as they don't care about much of anything, other than, "I'm gonna get mine" privileged attitude.

This is a common saying, but it's not from the Bible. It's from ancient Greece.

Some real bible quotes:

Quote:
If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you.
Quote:
Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Quote:
Whoever mocks the poor insults his Maker; he who is glad at calamity will not go unpunished
Quote:
A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.
Quote:
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
Quote:
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.
Quote:
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
